The storytelling in these stories was simply great. Yes there is lots of love making but these people were very much in love and that makes all the difference in stories.
The author lets the reader in on all the intimate feelings of the people involved. I will keep this in my Kindle as I have to re-read portions again. I have read all these books before and the second time around was even better.
Each story is complete but carries one character into the next story.
My heart broke with a miscarriage, and was back to in one piece with what came next, even when many years had to go by.
My heart broke again with a rape, caused by misunderstandings, excess of hormones and plain stupidity. And came back in one piece when a muse finds her poet.
It was fun to find a story about love in the thirties, and biological clocks ticking, and broken rules.
We find fiery women, with their insecurities and their contradictions, and caring men, of those who are hard to find these days--a girl can dream, right?
And of course, as it is this talented author signature, lots and lots of steamy, consensual, beautifully written sex scenes.
Cons: Not this time for me. I read each story as it came out (some before), and absolutely loved them.
When the Music Ends:
Handsome, loyal and hard working, Sean is true hero material, the kind of man I would like my daughter to meet (if I had a daughter). He decides that he cannot stand in Erin's way, that she must continue her music career, so he sacrifices his own happiness and disappears from her life. Oh foolish man, Erin wanted Sean more than she ever wanted a musical career.
This is a really lovely story, tender, yet there are some spicy scenes in it, but never gratuitous. This is the second of Simone Beaudelaire's novels I have recently read, and it certainly won't be my last. She writes the most wonderful heroes, no woman could fail to fall in love with them.
I normally read historical romance, and this is the first "coming of age," novel that I have ever read, but I am extremely glad that I did.
When The Words Were Spoken:
Is equally captivating. I can highly recommend both of them.
I recommend reading the set in lieu of buying the individual books. It keeps the flow going as you end one story and immediately start the next.
