With evoking descriptions of the setting using all of the senses, Carolyn McCray allows the reader to experience all that Sal does, from muscle ache to heart ache. Although HeartsBlood does not take place in Tyr's world, Ms McCray gives us hints of his home through Tyr's actions and dialogue. The pacing throughout the action scenes is excellent and the short chapters help add to the suspense.
While the ending of HeartsBlood was not what I expected, I found it wrapped up the book very well, and yes, Ms. McCray left me crying. I personally love when a book can stir my emotions like that.
If you are a fan of paranormal or would like to experience a new genre, check out HeartsBlood by Carolyn McCray.
From the brilliant unfolding of the story to the likable character development, the author sets the scenes with such vivid images that the reader finds her or himself riding on cable cars, running through Golden Gate Park, walking the halls of the ER and all the other wonderful places described in this book.
Well-described underlying sexual tension, emotions, intent and purpose captivate the reader in this awesome fantasy, sci-fi, horror, romance, action, and thriller. The wonderful love scene is memorable.
I was highly impressed by the best description, for a layperson, of what an atom is. I wish my physics professor had used this analogy in his class.
Overall, this is an intelligently written book with a beautiful flow of events. A crescendo of a conclusion satisfies any reader as much, as a symphonically synchronized fireworks display over the Bay would.
Why I brought it to 5 stars, instead of 4 is, that the story line/plot, was seamless & extremely entertaining. A interesting story emerged. Though there were a miniscule few editing errors, 4 that I counted (of leaving a word out of a sentence), the editing was excellent!! The real 5 star "clincher" for me, was that the ending of the story/book, could have really tied it all up. I was/am delightfully surprised, that there is a sequel to the story! I can't wait to read it!
I've read a few other books by this Author. She has yet to disappoint me :-)
Her books are like a "Calgon., take me away" moment. You wish they lasted longer!!! LOL
Highly RECCOMEND. Enjoy!!
This book takes so many twists, that I didn't know what to be expecting next. I couldn't believe the connection between Tyr and the beast. This was not what I was expecting. The only problem I have with this book was the ending. I hate cliffhangers. Thank goodness there was a snipet at the end that allowed me to get a peek into the next installment. Now, I have to wait till July 2013 to find out how this is going to end. I can't take this!
I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book EXCEPT I cannot understand why the author had Tyr kissing the nurse. Why?? What did it have to do with the story? Up until that moment the story was absolutely fabulous.
Another thing that spoilt it for me was that I didn't know this book was part of a series as it didn't say when I purchased this book. I just wish all authors would take note and say in the book title whether it is Book 1 etc. and the name of the series. Frustrates the hell out of me.
But, all in all, a book I would highly recommend.
