About the Author
April blames her incurable chocolate addiction on growing up in rural Pennsylvania, way too close to America's chocolate capital in Hershey, Pa. She now lives in Virginia with her college sweetheart husband, two young children, and a cat who thinks she's a human-dog hybrid. On those rare occasions she's not donning the cape of her children's personal chauffeur, April's either planning, plotting, or writing about her next alpha hero and the woman he never knew he needed, but now can't live without.

Security operative Rafe Ortega is in Honduras with Alpha Security to investigate and find evil drug lord Fuentes. But he didn't bank on a feisty redhead walking into the middle of their op. Penny Kline will do anything to bring her niece home, even if it means working with the aggravating Rafe. Even more shocking is that Trey, the boy who was like a brother to her growing up, is working for Alpha Security. As the team tries to infiltrate Fuentes operation, Rafe and Penny will have to learn to trust each other.
What I Liked
April Hunt is a new author and after a rough start this book really picked up. I always love a good action romance and this had it in spades. Alpha Security is your typical private security/mercenary group working to take the assignments the government can't sanction or be involved in. We got some brief glimpses into the other members and I look forward to their books, especially the very British, very sassy, team nerd Charlie. Rafe was a little overbearing in the beginning but it stems from his protectiveness and believing that Penny isn't prepared to deal with Fuentes. As the book goes on, Rafe is much more likable and his support of Penny is great. Penny herself is one tough woman! She takes a pretty good beating throughout this book and keeps on fighting back. Her devotion to her niece (who is only a few years younger, so more like a sister) is strong and admirable considering Penny was willing to risk her life to bring Rachel home.
What Needs Work
The beginning of this was rough and I almost stopped reading it; however, it does really pick up and it was worth sticking with it. I felt like Hunt chopped off the beginning of her story in order to have an opener that was filled with action. The beginning and introduction to the characters was much too abrupt, especially with the addition of Penny and Trey knowing each other. The initial antagonism between Rafe and Penny was also really strong, so it was weird that they so quickly jumped into a physical relationship and then started to work so well together.
Penny Kline is a social worker turned bail enforcement officer, and now she's in Honduras trying to find her niece. Her niece Rachel is only a few years younger than her and I wish it had explained the family a little more than it did. Rachel was working in a small village in Honduras when she went missing.. Penny only knows because Rachel sent a frantic email before saying she was in trouble and something bad was going to happen. Penny dropped everything and flew to Honduras. Rafe and the team of Alpha Security were in Honduras tracking down a dangerous drug lord who is on the verge of letting loose a highly addictive new drug in America. Penny's surrogate brother Trey is also a member of Alpha and they run into each other, or something, and after Penny proves herself she's allowed to help because there is no way she is leaving with out Rachel. Penny and Rafe go undercover and soon end up as lovers. But when the s*** hits the fan and they end up lost in the jungle they have to depend on each other to get out alive.
It was all very exciting I inhaled the book in half a day I could not put it down. Overall, this was a great book and I look forward to the rest of the series.
