I like the slide container a lot, but it is made from plastic with inexpensive hinges. For the price it is just fine. I keep it on my lab bench. I wouldn't want to carry it around in my bag because I think it would break eventually. So if you need a slide container to keep on your desk or shelf this should work just fine.
Definitely worth the purchase, and recommend for any and all lab personnel!
One star off because the slots are too wide and the slides flop and rattle around. Indeed, the top edges of adjacent slides can hit each other, possibly breaking them. Microscope slides are a fairly consistent thickness, so there's no reason to make the slots too wide. Don't ship your collection in these, unless you add a piece of foam carpet padding or something to keep them from flopping around.
Otherwise, 'tis a fine li'l slide box at a reasonable price and I'll get another when needed.
It has a big metal latch and strong hinges, and the box itself appears durable enough. I have no expectation that this case will afford glass slides much protection if dropped, but they are organized and portable. What more do you want? It definitely beats using those smaller slide boxes (which generally need a rubber band to hold them together). The cork lining is a nice touch, but I doubt the experience is any different from the foam lined version.

It is not only that but it is hard to tell which way is up when you take it out of the box.
after filling it with blank sides the first time I opened it they all fell out.
The index is on the wrong side and upsidedown if you turn it around.
Funny, there are cheaper better boxes on the market
