Keep up the good work!
After the canine flue wiped out a quarter of the population, twenty year old Lee is working her butt off as a waitress and a stripper. She's taking care of her sister and Reed, who is like a brother to her.
While she's at work, she learns her sister has been arrested again so she needs to bail her out. But before she can do that, there is a drug lord in her club that wants to see her. He wants to pay her for a night with him. She could really use the money, but she's also a virgin. She's torn on what to do.
What she doesn't know is that people are having bad reactions to the canine flu vaccine. They're turning into zombies, including people she knows.
Reed, who has always been like a brother to her, admits he's always been in love with her.
Now she has to get to the courthouse to save her sister before it's too late.
Although there is no actual sex in the book, there is a situation that gets pretty steamy.
I'm a big fan of zombie books. I would definitely recommend this book. I couldn't put it down and can't wait to read the rest of the series!
Lee is such a complex character, she seriously feels real. Her life and her struggles make you instantly want to root for her. The world is a bit dark, but completely pulled me in. It felt like walking in the footsteps of a person whose life really didn't end up the way they wanted it to. The other characters were also really neat, and I honestly didn't know where this was going to go. It was full of surprises and the tension was high throughout the entire thing. I'm not a huge fan of zombies, but so far this felt like a thriller rather than a horror. There's a constant creep factor, but it wasn't really gory.
I've already preordered the next story in the series! Now, I'm just waiting for the romance to really get going. :)
Lee has drawn the amorous attention of a dangerous and powerful drug lord, and though she is an exotic dancer, she has never given herself to any man. She is unable because of what she saw love do to her mother. Her sister Evie is a protester who fights the government for youthenizing all the dogs because of a killer virus. She's young and wears her own beloved dog's collar, amidst the chaos. Then there's Reed, practically a brother to Lee, but reveals that he's in love with her and always has been.
At the end, someone new enters her life, and this sexy military man will become a big part of the next book.
Excellently written and exciting, I can't wait to read the next novella.
