The EBow is an amazing hand-held device that uses electro-magnetism to create amazing sound effects on electric guitar. The small battery-powered unit replaces the pick in the right hand letting the guitarist mimic strings, horns, and woodwinds with unbelievable sensitivity. The EBow produces a powerful infinite sustain, rich in harmonics for incredible guitar sounds. You've definitely heard the E-Bow on hit records. Some examples? How about groups such as Adrian Below, Kings X, Blondie, Phil Collins, Big Country, David Bowie, Duran , Flock of Seagulls, Van Halen, Heart, Phil Keaggy, Def Leppard, U2, Zappa, Henry Kaiser, (get the idea...)?

I give the device five stars because it does what I hoped it would do and a little more. I find I can emulate a stringed drone instrument like an "electronic" Tamboura or Hurdy Gurdy, and even have a richer set of choices. The battery, too, seems to last a very long time.
after 2 months it would occassionally pop apart, never dropped or anything, just in a roadcase.
opened up today and it finally pulled it's 3 lines off of the pins. for $100 you should have a better build than glue and soft plastic tabs.
don't expect it to survive anything outside of bedroom/studio playing.
Fast forward to 2015 and here I find that they STILL make the EBOW... whoo hoo. Let's buy it.
Let me tell you, I am very impressed with the new version and the 2 settings of "bowing" available.
Get one for yourself and see what I mean...
I especially appreciate that it has the two modes: one for regular sustain and one for a 'feedback' sustain.
They can be switched back and forth even while you're sustaining a note.
I can't wait to use this with my band - we'll have to cover "With or Without You" for sure now!
