I bought this to go with a half-height mini PCI-E network card that I had purchased.Intel 3160.HMWG.R Dual Band Wireless AC + Bluetooth Mini PCIe card Supports 2.4 and 5.8Ghz B/G/N/AC Bands with Mounting Screws My Alienware laptop didn't have fasteners for half-height cards so I bough this to work with the new network adapter. The adapter came with 4 screws to work with, 2 to attach to the half-height card, and two to fasten to the full-height slot points.

Installation was exceptionally easy and only took a few minutes to attach it to the half-height card. Once there, it was more than solid and sturdy enough to install the card in the laptop. After daily use for months, the card has performed flawlessly thanks to the bracket adapter. I would definitely recommend using this adapter for your half-height cards in a full-height slot.

The only problem I had is that the extender doesn't screw directly into the card, but I'm not sure if this is intended or not. The screw size is much smaller than the holes on the card. I'm not sure if it's a problem with the card, the extender, or designed that way. Either way, it still works just fine, but I could see it potentially coming loose depending on your laptops build.
