As Eira returns to the village she suddenly realises that she’s being chased by a man riding an Iron horse she runs for her life not at all realising that things have changed, there is a man riding a two-wheeled monster that nearly runs her over, squashing her half-frozen body on the moors. Finn Olsen has encountered many things in his life however the terrified, knife wielding woman is dressed and speaks as though she’s from another time period.
How can she possibly be from a different time, why had she appeared in the year 2017, how was he going to ask her questions when she could not understand him or vice versa there were a lot of what if’s that could not easily be understood. Finn and Eira are aware that there are many unanswerable questions for instance how did a Viking woman appear out of thin air and what is the evil that seems to have followed, will they be able to solve the mystery and what would happen to Finn and Eira when and if a solution was found….
This was a terrific read from Ashe and I must say that the complexity of time was quite an unusual edge to take and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed it and that I was very, very impressed. I have always loved reading Ashe Barkers books and I can highly recommend this book to any-one wanting to read an exciting and innovative story that encompasses such an extremely and varied period in time. The creativity of her characters and her obvious in-depth investigation in to this time period has left me a little more advised on what the Viking time period involved.
I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
As Finn learns that Eira speaks a language he is unfamiliar with, Eira was afraid of Finn in his motorcycle helmet so their beginnings are strained by fear and language barriers. Finn contacts his cousin Brenna as she knows many languages and studies anthropology, she figures out what Eira is trying to express with her strange dialect.
There are very strange happenings going on as Finn searches through Eira's belongings of ancient and modern objects.
Finn takes complete control and care of Eira as they search for answers once they discover Eira was the bride of Audun who was killed by unknown people in her 11th century land.
I really enjoyed this and was giggling during the over the top, Audun The Magnificent image lol
I hope we get to see more of this type of book from Ashe Barker, it was a lot of fun, entertaining and sexy content while also giving us a mystery to solve for a great ending.
travel story with a twist,in fact there are several twists and magical
moments. There is surprises in every chapter,it grabbed my attention
from the very first page/scene.I was immediately hooked and had to
find out what happened leading up to that scene. The descriptive writing
and the blending of the past and the present was a highlight,it takes the
readers on a journey where hardships and life and death situations were
the norm. The last thing Finn Olsen expected to find on the Scottish Island
of North Uist was a half frozen women.Finn is the local police officer but he
is out of his league with this women, especially after she pulls a dagger on
him.It has been two years since the death of Eira's husband,Audun..There is
no such thing as women's rights in North Uist in 1063 and Eira is under pressure
to marry again,a marriage she does not want. While walking on the beach,Eira
fills her pockets with shiny objects she finds in the sand.Eira falls and is knocked
unconscious, she wakes to find herself in a unknown land with a man talking
to her in a unknown language.Finn is able to communicate with Eira via his cousin
who is a translator.Time travel does not seem plausible at first but Eira story has
a ring of truth. With no other explanation,Finn is determined to find answers.
Strange things continue to happen when they find a man near death on the beach.
Finn is attracted to Eira's beauty but this not stop him from setting her bottom on
fire when she puts herself in danger. The plot includes time travel, intrigue, danger,
murder, punishments and erotic sex scenes. It also had a great cast of characters that
were woven into the storyline which could lead to a sequel I hope.
