The developer has removed the code in the app that contained the adware and Facebook developer tools. As a result I raised my rating to 5 stars. It is still a helicopter flying game that takes some skill to play but now it is fun and safe for you to install on your devices. My thanks to the developer for responding to many requests from Amazon reviewers. ++++
This app is a nice helicopter flying game ruined by excessive permissions. This is a good example of why full disclosure should be required and all adware and malware should be listed by Amazon and the developers on the web sites so perspective buyers can see the truth. If someone pays for an App then they deserve to have an adware free and a malware free app. Buyers should see what they are buying and not find hidden unpleasant surprises in the apps. They don't list these items because they know that people won't waste their money to buy garbage that spams them or takes their personal data.
The app contains: * Admob * Adsense * Appbrain * Facebook developer tools, Facebook is not used unless you opt into give them access to use Facebook * Links to twitter on the main page
Why should you be worried? Adware can collect personal data like your IP address and device information. If permissions allow it they can collect your location data. If the permissions are not open they can still collect this data when you visit a website with ads. It is malicious spyware.
Adsense is run by Google and website owners can enable text, and video advertisements on their websites. They can generate money based on the number of hits they get on the ads.
App developers that use Appbrain can be paid for the information that is collected from your device in a procedure called CPM or Cost Per Impressions. The more data they can gather the more they can get paid.
The app works well and as you can imagine the flying of the helicopters will take a lot of practice and the use of both hands in a concentrated and controlled effort. The graphics are nicely done as well as the sound effects and music. When I flew the helicopter into the house in the tutorial and bumped the nose of the helicopter into a picture frame that said touch me it took me to a website to download Helidroid Battle 3D and it stopped the app dead in its tracks so I could download another app. Is this how they sell more and can get paid for hits?
As much as I like the app I will give it 1 star for all of the adware built into it. In a paid game this is inexcusable and should not be allowed. Remove the adware and this is a 4 or a 5 star app.
All issues made by others have been resolved by the Developer as of 20 April 2014. A hearty cheer for MH Production, and my sincere condolences on the frenzy kicked up by the presence of inactive adware.
I AM MAN, HEAR ME GIGGLE Back in the late 70s and early 80s, RC Copters weren't toys. They were SERIOUS STUFF meant for mature men pretending to be mature men, while in truth giggling to each other in some field as they flew their helicopters around. Needless to say, I never got to experience the giddiness of Radio Controlled flight. Now days you can pick up a cheapie RC copter toy at your local five and dime (or Walmart, depending how many street lights your town has), but I never succumbed to the temptation, firmly believing it just couldn't be remotely the same. Now today, I own HELIDROID 3 PRO. Probably still isn't the same (at least I have giggled yet), but dang it, good enough!
Small download, but graphic engine can be intense. This is from the dev team: "You must have (at least) a cpu of 1 GHz in order to play without lag. But you can reduce the quality of the graphics in the option menu."
Running a 4.2.2 Samsung Tab 3, I played without any issues at default settings. However, I did watch the Dev Credits and noticed in the Beta Test Devices, Amazon's Kindle Family was not listed at all. Not saying they won't work, but for those with older devices, be aware.
One knock on the head - upon entering the house for the first time, I noticed what look like a game box that had "Touch Me!" on it. Never being one to let Alice have all the fun, I did... and it took me to the Google Store for one of this dev teams other games. What a way to spoil the moment, guys. I back-keyed out and the game was paused, but still for the team, MH Production, consider taking that sort of flow killing moment out. In spite of being a new experience for me to be doing the pushing into an Other Game advertisement, a) direct linking to the Google Store isn't cool and b) direct linking from within game play really isn't cool. This is the one star hit.
*As of v1.3, the in game Touch Me links are still there; however, the energetic and sincere actions on MH Production side in resolving the adware issues has given this linking a pass... and anyhoo, it only takes the one time to recognize the various market links present in the house.*
Three different style of controls, the "toy layout" as I call it, a tilt control that is a bit difficult but responsive and really works with the environment, and then the RC REAL DEAL layout. Makes me want to go find a field to giggle in- tho I would only be arrested in this day and age. A very nice attention to detail is all three layouts have a left-handed swap option. South Paws, cheer!
Very polished polygonal graphics that relay a three dimensional feel, and although the overall content looks short (15 missions plus a bonus one must find), I still feel HELIDROID 3 PRO has a good amount of replay in just flying about. It was what kept all those mature gigglers going for decades.
I got it despite the negative reviews about the adware features. That's because I based it on my experience with other titles from this developer of similar style that I enjoyed. This is a great version, and is especially fun for those with RC Heli experience! I love flying with the RC type controls. Even though it's not a simulator, nor is it meant to be, it's useful and fun practice for flying RC helis. The RC heli type controls are much more accurate and precise for me, but that's mostly because I'm used to that control setup.
Pretty fun, engaging game. I'm one of those people who plays a game for a good 2 hours and then leaves it unopened on my e for a month until ultimately deleting it without ever opening it after the first time. Surprisingly this game kept me entertained for a few days and still here and there I will get a craving to play it. You're probably wondering, "if it's so great, then why 4 stars??". Though it's a good game, It's nothing mind blowing which is why I think four stars is more adequate. Definitely still worth checking out in my opinion!
