The Joe Romm of this massively important, must read, must study book, if he were alive today, well, we'd have a snowball's chance in Hell to avert "Hell and High Water." But alas, like McKibben and others, the Joe Romm that authored this book fell victim to Copenhagen, and to the largely psychotic but prevailing view on the left that Pr. Obama had magical powers and that we all on the left could sit safely and comfortably behind our computer keyboards and by year two of Pr. Obama's term, sane energy policy would magically be the law of the land. And Joe's harsh, cruel, infantile, historically, intellectually bankrupt blaming of Pr. Obama, the Right, Congress and everyone else except the US Citizens in the Left and Center, we the people, the only ones that objectively have, or ever have had the power to achieve what Joe alluded to in "Hell and High Water," his unceasing blaming of everyone but we the people is the crypt Joe seems intent on remaining dead in.
I'd give my life for him to be reborn, and to grow, and lead us. I've written two books that if the Romm of "Hell and High Water" were miraculously reborn, these would let him rapidly become the leader that our children probably won't survive without - "Global Warming's Death. Fast." and "Resurrecting Your Unviolent Warrior - a Personal Trainer for INSHE's."
Hmmm. Come to think of it, I am giving my life in part for Joe's rebirth, this being day 5 of my Global Warming's Death Fast.
In the little time I have left here on earth I'll be relying heavily on "Hell and High Water," Hansen's "Storms of my Grandchildren," Michale Mann's work, and most centrally, Lester Brown's "Plan B 3.0," and other writings by Joe, to update both "Tracking Plan B - a War Room," and "Global Warming's Death. Fast. Till enough are seen dying for it Global Warming won't stop" to try and do what Joe, Lester Brown, Jim Hansen and Michael Mann need to do, but refuse to do - empower we the people with the two things they refuse to come together and give us - how long we have left to save our next 200 billion children, and what, exactly, we need to achieve by month, by year, to effect the salvation - a collaborative version of Lester Brown's book, a collective "Plan B 5.0," then updated, quarterly or more frequently.
But as in "Ulee's Gold" where their Doctors, the Romm and Brown equivalents, couldn't or wouldn't tell the parents how to save their child, I too am left to try to do so without them. Utter tragedy.
