Hell on Wheels 2011 Season 5 Volume 2 - The Final Episodes
The last seven episodes of “Hell on Wheels” is the end of the line for Cullen Bohannon (Anson Mount) and his work on America’s first transcontinental railroad. The final push to finish the road brings with it a reckoning for Bohannon and the men standing in his path: the bloodthirsty Swede; the mercenary Chang, and the rapacious Thomas Durant. Cullen contends with corruption, greed and murder as he leads the Central Pacific through the Sierras and across the Utah desert to Promontory Point. While the railroad’s completion is certain, who and what will survive the golden spike remains in question — with no one more at risk than Cullen Bohannon.

If that is how it was aired, fine. By any other measure a "season" is what is put out in a calendar year.
This is the 6th year, it should be the 6th season, no matter how paltry the number of episodes.
This Volume 1/Volume 2 crap should apply only if they split the season within a one-year period. Otherwise, it is a season, not a volume.
But whatever you call it, it is the price-per-episode that makes these season splits the most onerous.
For those of us who really like these shows, it is hard to swallow a sudden doubling of the price-per-episode just to get to the end of the story.
It is chicken-s**t marketing.
Too bad that this was the end of it. Just like the Deadwood series, it ends far too soon.
