Praise for the first volume of Hellboy In Hell:
"... Mignola's simple but elegant panel design should be studied by everyone who is or who wants to be a cartoonist. The script is a delight, too, as Hellboy's down-to-earth anger and everyman astonishment remains funny and refreshing." -Publishers Weekly

About the author

Mike Mignola is best known as the multiple award-winning creator, writer, and artist of "B.P.R.D." and "Hellboy", but has fostered several other projects like "The Amazing Screw-On Head" and "Baltimore" with Christopher Golden. Although he began working as a professional cartoonist in the early 1980s, drawing 'a little bit of everything for just about everybody' - including characters like Batman and Wolverine - he was also a production designer on the Disney film "Atlantis: The Lost Empire". Mignola also acted as a visual consultant to Guillermo del Toro on "Blade 2" and the film versions of Hellboy, which were broadly adapted by del Toro from the original comic series. Mike Mignola currently lives in southern California with his wife, daughter, and cat.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2017Hellboy has been my favorite comic for a long time and this is no letdown. Mr. Mignola has a seemingly endless imagination and still has the ability to surprise. A great read! Buy it.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2017Hellboy will be around for a long time but I'm glad to see one of my favorite characters get such a great end to his story.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2016This volume collects "Hellboy in Hell" issues 6 through 10, (and a related but stand alone story), and marks the end of the Hellboy in Hell arc. It follows directly on from "Hellboy in Hell: Volume 1" and wraps up what was addressed in that volume.
As always we have great writing and art. Even more than in the previous volume we have many fascinating and entertaining supporting characters, from Hellboy's Spanish bride, through the Vampire of Prague, and on to insane mapmakers, incompetent, (and amusing), doctors, Hellboy's sister, and a large cast from Pandemonium itself. While the story moves around a good bit it's easy enough to follow through to the end, and that end is satisfying although not, to me, a total wow.
The only problem is that in order to make room for all of these characters, all of the plotting and digressions, and the story's conclusion, Hellboy has to take a bit of a backseat and sometimes drifts out of the story entirely. He does a lot of listening and reacting. I like it when Mignola goes off on a storytelling tangent, and I like joining Hellboy on the sidelines while other characters carry on, but sometimes it felt like Hellboy wasn't in his own comic.
That said, this Volume fits nicely in with Volume 1, there's certainly enough Hellboy to satisfy, and the whole story hangs together nicely. It's elegant, refreshing, and especially witty, and I don't know how you can do much better than that.

EuvaldojrReviewed in Brazil on April 18, 20172.0 out of 5 stars Triste fim
É preciso descer do palco no ápice.

Emmanuel OrtegaReviewed in Mexico on March 1, 20175.0 out of 5 stars EJEMPLAR DAÑADO.
