About the Author

Since hanging up her guitar for the computer keyboard, Julie has penned books that frequently top reader and critic polls and have been nominated for numerous awards, including the RITA®, Romantic Times Reviewer's Choice, and the Quill, and reviewers have been known to use words like "dazzling," "brilliant," and "impossible to put down" when describing them. and sexual health before beginning that aspect of their relationship. I was surprised that this was omitted, especially in a contemporary romance. // The major annoyance that I have discovered in JAL's novels (at least in electronic format - I don't know if the print options contain this issue) is that her line editor misses grammar problems, missed words in sentences, and incorrect gender identification (i.e. identifying someone as 'her' when the story is talking about a man, and vice versa). As a reader I make these mental corrections as I read, but I do find these problems annoying). This does not stop me from reading JAL novels. I like her creativity, and the 'heart' she puts into her characters.
Julie Anne Long is a fabulous writer and Hot in Hellcat Canyon is no exception. The descriptions of the town and it’s people are perfect. I felt like I could walk down the main street in Hellcat Canyon and order a Glennburger from Giorgio. I loved the supporting characters in this book, they were a little batty but if you’ve ever spent time in a small town, you know that batty is reality. I thought Britt was wonderful. A smart woman who escaped her past and has found contentment in a kooky cast of friends, some plants in triage, and a beautiful view. Britt was the best part of Hot in Hellcat Canyon, I understood her motivations and despite J.T’s insistence otherwise, I thought she was quite fair to him.
Which brings us to J.T. At first I was a big fan of J.T.’s, I liked his pursuit of Britt and their early romance. I did not like J.T. in the later part of the book. I hate to give anything away but I thought Britt had every right to be upset with him and she forgave him more easily than I thought was reasonable. There are things you don’t do when you are in a relationship with someone and J.T. did them. No, there’s no cheating, but it’s almost as yucky in parts.
Overall I enjoyed Hot in Hellcat Canyon, enough that I look forward to the next in the series.
