I guess that might be a case of more tell than show. Also the story appeared really short to me for the page count and seemed to be more of a short story than a full novel. That or I felt that what was told could’ve been told with a smaller page count. Either way, despite my misgivings, I still enjoyed the story and have plans to read the next in the series as the excerpt sounded really cool.
One of the best things is the independence of the female characters and how they are all about nature, hiking, or climbing. I’m not an expert on that sort of thing, I always found it interesting to read about, but I really enjoyed that aspect of the story.
It is a story of love once lost due to secrets but, once again found. Tim and Moira loved each other as teenagers but, Tim had a secret he could not share with Moira which made her feel he did not really love her. She left and went on with her life, as did Tim. This book reunites them through some major trials involving Druids and Shamans; horrendous storms and survival conditions; and, in the end, love conquers all.
This is the first book in the series and I can't wait to dig in to the next.
Tim was born and raised a druid and to be the leader one day. That is what he was meant to be but his heart belongs to Maria Shaughnessy an Irish woman he had grown up with. By the time they had grown up and in college Maira wanted to move in together and move be on kissing.
Unfortunately Tim was not permitted and he was not permitted to tell her why. Thinking the worst she ran off that was ten years ago and then she walked back into his medical office. No matter what this time he was not letting her go again. After finding out she is in danger he gets "permission " he runs into the back country into the mountains to fund her and tell her everything.
The danger? Turns out to be far worse then he thought and it will take all his power to save her. Magic vs magic who will win!
Voluntarily reviewed and honestly love
Ann gives me an intriguing read with her writing every time I pick up a new read. The full richness of the paranormal world and the enticement of magic and the open land adds more depth to the description of the world around them. The characters have a bit of an edge to them. The added benefit of a second chance at love also adds some flavor.
Moria was our first amazing female in this series of wild happening in the wild. I excited to see what comes next.
I received an ARC of this book and I'm voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Moira and Tim loved each other once, but his secret tore them apart. Now a chance meeting brings them back together. Will his secret of being a Druid be enough to save her from her soon to be ex-husband and his Native American shaman magic?
