The story opens with the main character drafting an honest Christmas letter, detailing the trials of her family's past year. Although she doesn't intend to mail it, the letter is sent out to her full Christmas mailing list. The story lines following this are engaging and fun. I really enjoyed both the Australian setting and the characters throughout the story. Both a funny and heartwarming story.
I liked McInerney's writing style and will check out her other novels soon.
