In this second book of Janice Thompson`s Backstage Pass series we meet Athena Pappas, head writer of the wildly popular Stars Collide sitcom. What she can't figure out is why, when the show has won major awards, the manager has hired a new writer for the team. Doesn't the current team's record stand for itself? When Athena learns that the new writer is a famous Vegas comedian, Stephen Cosse, she begins to fear for her job.

Stephen has been a single dad for several years and is looking for stability for his young daughter. The Pappas family, owners of Hollywood's hottest Greek restaurant, show him what a real Greek extended family is like. The cousins pull his daughter into their circle and Stephen himself is drawn to Athena, who is not only the Pappas' youngest daughter but his boss.

Janice Thompson's books are always filled with humor. One of the things I enjoyed the most in Hello, Hollywood, as a writer myself, was Stephen's determination to learn about writing sitcoms (as opposed to solo routines). During the novel he takes a course on the Hero's Journey and keeps Athena informed as to which stage of the classic storyline their relationship is currently at. I got quite a few laughs out of this!

I have read the others in the Backstage Pass series and loved them. This one was no exception. This is book 2, and having read book 3 before reading one and two, I was already prepared for the outcome of the happy ending. What made this book so entertaining was how the characters got to that happy ending.

I read the Kindle version for pure pleasure. Recommended to fans of romantic comedies, Denise Hunter, Jenny Jones, Sandra Bricker, Karen Witemeyer.

Interesting idea but hard to read. The author felt a little ADHD even in the writing. So reading helter/shelter thoughts was disturbing. I liked the story line but didn't enjoy the day by day pace where nothing was very disturbing or trying. I thought there would be more really laughable lines in it but there were not many and they only got a smile from me. Maybe my desire was out of line with reality. I wouldn't recommend it. Nothing was bad about it but the .christianity was weak and contrived, nothing about it felt real. It was more like what a non Christian would write. The book was fine. I read the whole thing but was glad I hadn't paid much for it.

I really enjoy reading novels by Janice Thompson. She is a contemporary Christian writer, and her novels have no cursing in them, nor explicit sex. It is the perfect reading for Christian females. I buy her books to keep on my Kindle on my laptop computer to read. I appreciate that Amazon.com has them as soon as they are available to the public for Kindle instant downloads, and that they provide a free download for a Kindle as well. Thank you, Janice, for books that people can feel they are a part of these families you write about. For those of us who have lost our families, it helps very much. Your books are not easy to put down once a book is being read. I can usually read one in a day which helps to occupy my mind and time.

I loved reading this book! Janice Thompson just keeps getting better and better with her writing! The characters were quirky, and fun. The descriptions of Greek food made me hungry. The main characters are writers for a sitcom, and I almost feel like I had a mini writing lesson without feeling like I was in class. And I loved the message that God is the ultimate author of our lives, and can pen a better story than we could ever imagine! Definitely a book worth reading!
