I pretty much love every Helly Hansen item I've ever purchased, and these tights are as great as expected.
These will be getting a lot of use this winter, even bought similar sets for my son and daughter.
I wore them under my hiking clothes just fine and wore them to sleep.

Product Description

Product Description

The best wool baselayer on the market. Combining the unique LIFA Stay Dry Technology next to skin to keep you dry, with a premium merino wool exterior with superior insulating and wicking properties.

Amazon.com

The Helly Hansen Women's Prowool Pants provide optimum cold-weather protection for rigorous outdoor activities in a base layer that both insulates and manages moisture. HH Warm base layers provide the insulation you need when you stop moving and wick away moisture for fast evaporation on the outer layer, managing your body's heat as you exert.

With an inner mesh of Lifa T3 (Thermic Tube Technology) that quickly evacuates moisture and a superfine outer layer of merino wool for warmth with zero-itch factor, the Prowool Pants mimic the fur of polar bears, making arctic temperatures manageable for everyone.

The Prowool pants fit close to your body as a base layer should. With flat-lock stitching construction the pants offer zero-abrasion comfort, and the low-bulk cuffs make it easy to layer the pants.

Helly Hansen believes the key to staying warm is staying dry and has designed its baselayers with this in mind. Helly Hansen offers a 100 percent money-back performance guarantee that the Prowool Pants will perform better than any other baselayer you have used. If the Prowool Pants do not meet this expectation, then you can send them back to Helly Hansen within 30 days of purchase for a full refund.

About Helly Hansen
For more than 130 years, Helly Hansen has been at the forefront of product development and innovation. Since 1877, when sea captain Helly Juell Hansen made his first oilskin waterproof jackets, the company has pushed the boundaries of fabric technologies. Helly and his wife Maren Margrethe gathered a stock of coarse linen and linseed oil. They designed and sewed jackets, trousers, and sou'wester hats for ocean use. Then Helly Juell applied oil to the garments and dried them before an open fire. Helly Hansen's waterproofs were a great success. In that first year, 1877, they produced and sold 2,000 items, from clothes to tarpaulins. Within five years they sold 10,000 pieces.

The business was officially formed in 1877. Helly Hansen was on the map, but his enquiring mind continually sought to diversify. He knew that the principle of lightweight waterproof fabrics must have multiple applications. The key to success was testing all his products before they were offered for sale. Quality was crucial. Helly Hansen's technical specifications were high, and so were the prices. But demand for his product continued to grow.

Many years later and with numerous new fabrics and technologies available, the evolution of breathable, waterproof jackets had a profound effect on the outdoor industry. Now everyone who participated in high-activity sport could expect their clothing to work with them, not against them. It was a major catalyst. From its roots in providing sturdy, waterproof clothing for fishermen, Helly Hansen now designed technical garments, base, insulation, and protective layers.

Now, more than 130 years since Helly began his work, Helly Hansen is a global company and is represented in more than 20 countries, with more than 500 individual product lines for men, women, and children. Helly Hansen provides technical clothing for workwear and action sports for all seasons.

I purchased these as a base layer for a week-long ski trip to Snowshoe Resort, WV. They did a good job of keeping me warm, but they developed a small (1.5 cm) tear along a front seam after wearing only one time! They fit fine, so I am not sure why they tore there. They were my favorite pant base layer, so I washed them daily, and air-dried them. They were dry every morning, and the hole didn't get any bigger the rest of the trip. I would give them 5 stars, but I was disappointed the hole developed so quickly.

So far, these warm pants are just that- warm. I was skeptical about the wool not being itchy, but they are not itchy at all.

I bought these pants to use as long underwear. I also bought them because I LOVE the color. I have long underwear by Cuddl Duds and Jockey & in comparison to those brands, this pant is both warmer & thicker. The texture of these pants makes it a bit more difficult to wear them underneath pants or jeans, as they don't have as slippery a surface as the others, and they will certainly make your pants feel more snug. These are, however, the warmest pants I've found thus far.

Given the color & the decorative stitching, they are also the most stylish. I think you could walk around in these pants with less awkwardness than with most of the others I've seen.

I found these to fit small in the waist and they also collected cat hair like crazy in the 5 minutes I had them on to see if I liked them. I weigh 140lbs with a 29" waist and 39" hips, 5'7" and I purchased a medium. I did like that they had a nice mid-high rise and not low like so many leggings.

I'm extremely happy with these leggings. I purchased them to use as a base layer/pajamas on my fall bikepacking trip. They are very breathable, yet warm and soft, not scratchy at all! I love the flat coverlock seams and the design is very good. These are well made. I would like to buy a few pairs! Of course, wool is awesome and these are no exception, it's definitely wool active wear. I highly recommend this garment.

I love these thermals. I needed a nice base layer for my hike of the West Highland Way this past spring. These are so comfortable and kept me warm throughout my hike. I even use these as pajama pants sometimes. Plus the pink, even though I am not usually partial to pink, are excellent!

Great product. I wore these as a base layer for our Tromsø, Norway Northern lights viewing trip. They also work great under skirts here in Seattle. I did find them to run a bit large though, so consider sizing down.
