I have read this book at least twice front to back and I have often gone back to certain chapters.

On the plus side, it has very sound advice about the process, what to say and do and what not to say and do. The author's intention behind writing this book seems genuine as she understand the possible emotional upheaval behind the whole process.

On the down side, it reads something like People magazine married the Dynasty tv series. It seems like the author is out shopping all day, working with her personal trainer, getting massages, spa treatments, all the while the maids are taking care of cleaning and the personal chef is at home preparing dinner - on her then-fiance's money! I don't know a single person that lives that way and at time it feels surreal.

So, if you can extract the good honest advice from the rest of the book, you'll have a refreshing, useful alternative to many of the other "how to prenup" books.

All Men and Women who have assets must be aware the prenups are routinely dismissed without contest by divorce court judges who possess sole discretion over the future of your assets. It's interesting seeing a nonlegal expert praying on the ignorance of women in the unfortunate position of marrying a gold digger. See "Divorce Corp" documentary for qualified advice from licensed legal experts.

The simple fact is this book is a simpletons approach. Marriage is the formation of a business enterprise, a corporation. It is the merger of 2 separate corporations. The party with greater assets has much more at risk than the party with lesser assets and income. You inherit the debts, bad credit and poor decisions of the lesser party. When(and, with a 55% divorce rate, it's highly likely!) you get divorced the ONLY issues to be dealt with are economic in nature. Ergo, a divorce is the dissolving of a business deal gone bad, nothing more and nothing less. Typically women utilize children, if there are any, as a bargaining chip to garner and obtain additional economic rewards and financial resources. Thus, it's imperative to put detailed child custoday and visitation, along with specific limits on child support, within the body of the document to remove the incentive for a woman to treat children as chattel to be bargained with. See an attorney for both parties and let them negotiate it. If she's unhappy, too bad. Move on. You now know her much better. You need to negotiate retirement accounts, 401K's, real estate, debts, assets, REMOVE all spousal support deal with these issues both current and future. The first thing a woman asks when obtaining a divorce, regardless of the children, is how much am I going to get and when am I going to get it. This is a business deal, at beginning and end. Don't forget this. You can't surgarcoat it. The books is marginal.

Dr. Lona Smith's book is brilliant. "Help! He Wants Me To Sign A Prenup" approaches this subject in a genious way. I, too, have been through what my friends and family called "the prenup war". I found this book to be very informative and comedic as well. Dr. Lona takes her readers step by step through this painful process by providing priceless advice and unforgettable anecdotes. She also invites her readers to share in some private moments during her quest for happiness. Dr. Lona is fabulous, intelligent, interesting, and witty. Thanks, Dr. Lona! You just made my Christmas shopping a lot easier this year. I am giving your work to both friends who are prenuppers and those who will enjoy your work regardless our their current situation.
