Overall a very nice and flexible tool to help with soldering and assembling small parts. The only downside that I could see was that the metal spring clips have so much clamping and holding strength that the plastic insulation on the wires being held during soldering tends to be softened and deformed by the heat and the clamping energy of the clips. I wish that it held the wires a little more gently or have clips with less clamping strength or at least not have such aggressive teeth on them that tend to bite into the wire insulation.

The best feature of this thing is that it's cheap and it technically does what it's supposed to. That said, for anyone looking at this I would recommend either buying a nicer one or not buying one at all.

The problem is that it's so hard to adjust that it's probably not worth it. The joints are locked and unlocked by tightening or loosening wingnuts, which affects two adjacent ball joints at a time. You can't unlock only one ball joint, so you have to correctly adjust both joints simultaneously. On top of that, the wingnuts are cheap, and it's difficult to loosen them to the correct pressure to allow some movement without the joints moving freely and succumbing to gravity. It's not impossible to use, it's just more work to get into place than it's worth.

I bought this for one project, and I ended up using other objects to hold the pieces in place rather than fussing with this thing. It would be fine if you only needed the clips in exactly one position, though.

Is this worth $9? I guess, but it serves its purpose so poorly that you should spend a little more to get a nicer one, or save your money.
