Everyone at the dive shop raved about the Henderson H2 Titanium, how great it fit and how flexible the hyperstretch material was. All the magazines extol its virtues. But that wet suit costs more than twice as much as the Henderson Thermoprene, so I got both for a head to head comparison (dry) before going on my last dive trip. I tried them on one after the other and could tell no difference in the cut of the material or the fit. The H2 was no easier to move in than the Thermoprene; they both gave plenty of movement for swimming in the shoulders and both fit well in the torso and legs. Both have zippers in the back with the standard long ribbon for zipping them up solo. And here was the big problem (aside from cost) with the H2. The zipper consistently stuck at the mid chest seam going both up and down. The action of the zipper on the Thermoprene was smooth and reliable. I don't know how it would be in the water because the H2 went back to the store; the sticky zipper and no improvement in fit or mobility made it seem silly to pay the extra for that H2 logo and prestige. The lack of any significant differences between the suits may be because I was comparing shorties. There may be a significant difference in the fit of a full wet suit.

In the water, the Thermoprene was all I could ask of a shorty. Getting in and out of the suit was easy and quick, I was usually the last one to need to start suiting up. It was comfortable and flexible in the water to the point that I was not conscious of any restrictions while swimming and we were in some very fast drifts. If anything it was a little warm for the equatorial water we were diving in (84 to 86 degrees F). Even though it is a shorty, no water flowed into the suit around my legs, arms or neck.

After I exchanged for the right size 2XL from XL, I llike what I've received . I wear size large shirts so the sizing ran small. Quality seems very good. We'll see how it performs in the waters of Puget Sound.

I ordered this for my husband for a dive trip to Belize and Honduras. Henderson makes the best wetsuits, in my opinion, and this one did not disappoint. My husband is a body builder, and is a perfect size Medium according to the size chart everywhere but his chest/upper body. I was worried that the chest and arms were going to be too small, but Thermoprene is some amazingly stretchy stuff. It was snug, but not uncomfortably so, in the arms and chest. The zipper is heavy duty and works flawlessly. Both the legs and the arms sealed without being too tight. I would definitely buy this item again. (I would love to have one for myself)

After a few years of struggling to get into an ill fitting suit of lesser quality I decided to spring for a larger and better quality. The quality of the material felt much better than my older suits and although they're the same thickness, this one felt more so. Most of my dives this trip, a handful of people were also wearing this suit, showing its recent popularity and why everyone had it back ordered. My only regret was getting the back zip after seeing how easily everyone got in and out of the front zip. I'll likely end up with that one at some point this year as well.
