|New from||Used from|
Henrietta The Dragon Slayer is a good read that I think any age, teen to adult, would enjoy. I only hope a sequel is in the works! --LunaMoth
The witty dialogue and good story line makes this book hard to put down. I really could not stop reading it and was really tired the next day. It's also very satisfying to read about a girl heroine fighting the good fight. --Jeri Lawson, avid reader/healer, Review posted on Amazon
Beth Barany, best known for strong heroines in her stories, created a tale of righteousness, magic and overcoming adversity. --Robert Mendak "RJ"
The book is a beautiful story about friendship, a heroine, and a quest to kill a dragon. Who wouldn't be excited? --Brittany, from Goodreads
Beth Barany has made a world where unlikely friendships rule and being a friend means more than you can know. --Tami, from Goodreads
From the Author
I was inspired to write Henrietta the Dragon Slayer (Book 1 of the Five Kingdom series) because all the fairy tales I read as a kid were always about boys as heroes: Jack the Giant Killer this, Jack and the Seven-Headed Giant that, and of course, Jack and the Beanstalk.

A young warrior on one final quest ... against an opponent she swore never to face again...
And at journey's end, someone must die ... the dragon, or Henrietta...
A thrilling adventure that focuses on Henrietta and her new friends involving a quest - to kill the dragon or die trying.
A really enjoyed this book. Such a good imaginary world that I was able to place myself in it right from the start - loved reading about Henrietta's quest, her struggles and her fears.
Full of dragons, a dragon slayer, quests, magics, friendship, action and adventure.
Perfect for readers of fantasy romance.
The only con I have to mention is some spelling errors, but I'm also a writer so they jumped out at me.
All in all, a talented writer, a fun story, and I looked forward to reading it every night :) On to book 2!
On a quest to find the Emerald Dragon of del Oro. and take her magic crystal without killing her. With her companions, Sir Franc de Plumare de'Oro, Jaxter Renaldo the bard, and Paulette the witch girl, she must first go to her old master Chen to see his condition. Then by Junk go to the island kingdom of del Oro to face the dragon. A rollicking adventure.
Henrietta The Dragon Slayer (a young adult epic fantasy adventure) (The Five Kingdoms)
It is through Henrietta that we travel through this adventure, her character is sure and confident on the outside but a mass of whirling doubt on the inside, something which most of us can identify with and certainly the doubt about our place in the world, though her strength of character always shines through it is good to see young heroines experiencing what we all go through, and so we identify so easily with Henrietta.
Franc, Jaxter and Paulette are all seen through Henrietta's eyes, and so we grow to like them as she does, though I have to admit Jaxter as the minstrel is likeable from the first.
The story line starts a little slow but picks up, lulls a bit in the middle but then concludes with a grand finale before a light encore that is enough so this book could be read alone, there is no cliffhanger though you know there is more to be told in the story.
Overall an enjoyable read, and one that younger readers will devour with delight.
