This was my first M/M book; I hadn't come across one yet that was compelling to try out. The character of Henry is introduced in the first Moore book and he's a very kind, sympathetic character. When you scratch beneath the secondary-character surface, though, you find a rich, dimensional character with depth only found in the best writing. Henry is a beautiful soul and his story is gut wrenching and warm at the same time. The journey takes the reader through so many emotions - have your tissue box ready. Sad tears, laughing tears, happy tears. You'll get them all.
If you're uncomfortable with the M/M thing, this is a good place to give it a try. There is so much love here, so much kindness and heart sexuality will not matter.
I loved the appearance of Scooner, Henry's close friend from their college days. Henry's story was a spin off of the Needing Moore series where Henry helped Scooner get through the hardest time of his life, and in Henry's story, it is Scooner's turn to help his friend through his tough times. The story was not just about Henry finding love but the power of friendship, and how it can help you through any situation.
Henry's End is another amazing 5-star book from Julie A. Richamn
There's just so much depth to all the characters in this book. There are some very emotional parts in this story which I cannot imagine were easy to write, but she nailed them! I was a snotty, blubbering mess with a mountain of tissue through parts of this book. It's not just a story. It hits on real life issues, real struggles and it's done in such a beautiful way! It's written in such a way that you feel the characters' pain...you feel their love. You go through every single emotion right along with them!
A lot of books you read once and you're good, but this book is definitely one that i think will be enjoyed over and over again. There are subtleties that show up when re-reading so it's definitely a story worth reading more than once!
If you've read the Needing Moore series, you'll see some more of the amazing cast of characters she brought to life in those books - and you'll fall even more in love with them. If you haven't read the series, this book can absolutely be read and enjoyed as a standalone - she did an amazing job of including just enough so that it can be enjoyed by readers who have not read the series. Whether you're a seasoned M/M lover or brand new to the genre, I think this book will be enjoyed by everyone! While there are definitely some hot & steamy scenes that will make you blush, this story is more about the journey of this truly amazing man.
Thank you, Julie Richman, for another amazing, epic, and beautiful love story! Your words are truly special and your books hold a very special place in the hearts of many!
If you have read the Needing Moore series, you get a peak at Henry Clark. In Henry's End, you learn all about who Henry Clark is and what his wants, needs, and dreams are. You see what he goes through trying to find his place in the world. He gets a promotion at work where he moves to San Diego and knows exactly where he wants to live. He decides to live in a predominantly gay community where he tries to gain acceptance and find love. What he finds a man who becomes a great friend, a man who becomes his worst nightmare and a man who becomes his first love who helps him overcome a dark time in his life.
You get a great look at each character and the impact they have on Henry's life. You will cry tears of sorrow, anger, and happiness. The story flows very well from beginning to end. Another great story for Julie Richman. I fell in love with Henry's character and hope there is more to his story.
