My problem with this book is the amount of grammatical and typographical errors. So many! I wonder if the author read the book (or did anyone with a halfway decent command of the English language?) before publishing. "Their" instead of "they're", "too" instead of "to," "waist" instead of "waste." Just a few examples that I can recall at the moment. No commas, too many commas, words transposed, words inserted that shouldn't have been there. I don't get it, how an author, editor, or publisher can let a book out in public like this. Most books have errors in them, which I guess we the readers have to accept. This one, however, was just plain awful in that respect. It makes me think, did this person graduate from high school? I've read many Debra Clopton books that are so much better presented than this one. I'd be happy to proofread anybody's books and guarantee they'd read better than this one does. The story was really good, at least.
This story has a tiny bit of sadness, slot of suspense and a bit of danger and as always a good romantic theme. I most definitely recommend reading this book.
I like the way that Ms. Clopton, as well as the other authors, show the reader the life of the rodeo, the competitions, the dangerous of the sport, as well as the excitement in the arena.
In this story we have Trip Jensen and Lori Calhoun. They met when they were kids and developed a friendship that as they got older could have become romantic. But Trip, who was the son of the foreman of Lori’s Dad’s ranch , felt he would not be enough for her.
They go their separate ways, both hurt. Upon Lori’s Dad’s death , she comes back to the ranch she had left years ago and Trip is now the foreman. Things get complicated when stock is stolen as well as cattle.
All in all, a novella that will entertain you with the suspense, good and bad cowboys, and a HEA. I specially enjoyed getting a glimpse of the Presley brothers. If you have read any of the Windswept stories by this author, you met them in Lana Presley’s and Cam Sinclair’s book, With This Promise.
I was gifted this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Rodeo Knights Series
Lori Calhoun has come home to the Calhoun Ranch after her dad passed away. She had guilt for not being here, and yet, after her dad had hired Trip, it was too hard to come back. There were too many...complications, between her and Trip.
Trip Jensen had left the ranch after he graduated. After all, he was only a ranch hand and Lori was the boss's daughter. When her dad asked him to come back as foreman and to buy into the rough stock part of the ranch, he returned. And now, so has Lori. But things aren't going smoothly. Cattle are missing and now their top five broncs.
This story is part of the Rodeo Knights Series, it is also the first book in a new series called Cowboys of Ransom Creek. Starting with the one of the Presley brothers. You can first meet the Presleys in the authors Windswept Bay Series. Book Seven is Lana Presley's story.
