This is my third visit to Malsum Pass but hopefully not my last. This is a series that does not have to be read in order but once you read this one there is no doubt you will want to read them all so why not start at the beginning.
In the first two books we learned about two feline shifters that were given shelter by the wolf pack, this book is their story. Daisy Munroe and her sister Lily ran away from their pride in Florida, a pride that still lived in the past. Women were only looked at as breeders and they had no say in who they mated since each mating was arranged by the leader of the pride. Daisy was always thought of as a weak failure as a shifter and her arranged mating would be with a strong shifter so that her weakness would not matter.
Lily was mated to the leaders son who continually berated her and beat her. One night things got totally out of control and the sisters wound up killing Lily’s mate. Who actually did the killing you will have to find out for yourself. Alone, scared and running for their lives they found themselves in Malsum Pass, Vermont and the pack took pity on them and took them in.
Kramer the leader of the pride had no intention of letting Lily and Daisy get away with killing his son and he hired Aleksandr Stepanov to find them and return them to Florida. It didn’t take long for Alek to find them but his reason for taking this assignment went way beyond finding the sisters, he was on a mission and was hunting his true prey. Alek watched Daisy and continued to lie to Kramer as to their whereabouts, he was dragging his feet and refused to turn the sisters over until he knew exactly what had transpired in Florida.
When he met Daisy for the first time at Mrs. Potter’s home, where he was renting a room he was immediately taken with her and the same was true for Daisy. He saw a beautiful, innocent girl and over time he knew that returning her to Florida was becoming less and less a likelihood if he had anything to say about it. Mrs. Potter was a human who Daisy visited at least two or three times a week, she was the mother she never had and now that she saw Alek she decided to visit as much as possible using visiting Mrs. Potter as her excuse.
We learn all about Alek’s life and Daisy and Lily’s lives. We learn why Alek came to find the sisters and we watch as the love between Daisy and Alek grows. Daisy has to learn about Alek’s past and that might be the straw that broke the camels back, but read the book and learn everything for yourself, you won’t regret it.
I love everything about this series, the shifters and the humans and I can’t wait to come back and see whose story is next.
This series is one that you shouldn't miss. They can be read as stand alones but I suggest stating with Malsum Pass and reading them all they are that good.
