What I didn't like about this book was the very abrupt ending. I guess the reader is just supposed to speculate about the future of Robert and Robin, the punishment for the "Other" and the person that hired him for the crime.
After the divorce, it took her two years to get up enough nerve to follow her desires. Her inner most sexual desires. The kind she had only read about in books and on her e-reader. She decides to do research on BDSM. She ends up going to a munch. And from then on her journey begins.
When she meets Robert, things start to fall into place. He is 50. Never been married. Established Masterr. He is battling his own demons. He grows tired of the same thing. He wants a woman. Someone who is real. At least to him. Someone like Robin. When they meet at the club, sparks fly immediately. There is an instant attraction. So begins their journey. He teaches her. Cherishes her. Protects her. Pushes her. And he also pushes himself.
I really enjoyed getting to know Robert. I thought that Mr. Southwick did a wonderful job in describing what Master Robert was going through. I think it is important to know that he is just as human as she. His needs, desires, and wants similar. Master Robert was/is perfect for Robin. And she for Him.
Other is a scene within the book that really hit home (and I won't spoil it for others). Just know that is pushed both Robin and Master Robert. Each having to confront their feelings and it was at this point I fell in love with Robert. He truly is a Master.
One of the other things about this book I liked was when Robin sought out another to talk to about her feelings after the scene. It was very eye opening. And something think others may over look when writing. She meets up with a Domme. The Domme asks her "Who is in control of your relationship with your Dom?" Most would say "He is". But Mr. Southwickpoints out that "you are". "He only has the power you give him. You can take that power away with just one word". This resonates through everyone. Too many times slaves or submissive think that they will do anything even up to damaging themselves go this Master's/Doms to prove they can endure. This is very detrimental, no only to the submissive/slave but also to the Master/Dom. This was a turning point in the book. And I loved it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found I related to the character. Similar life experiences. Same sexual desires. Same self-doubts. Needing to submit. Throughout the book she continues to have self-doubts but they lesson as her relationship with her Master evolves. Both recognizing their love transcends all. Making the bond between Master and slave that much more.
The one part of the boom that maybe could have been added to a bit more was "the Other". He is a character you find out about in the book who is up to no good. And in the end he is found out. I think it was a bit rushed. But it did not take away from the story.
So if you enjoy BDSM, highly erotic scenes, whips, spanking, caning and more than this is the book for you. Thank you Mr. Southwick for a wonderful book. 5 stars all the way! Look forward to many more!
