I was a Master.
To understand me, you must understand my past.
My heart was destroyed on a clear summer day when my child was stripped from my hands. Redemption for my crimes was lost, and loneliness like a man should never know was gained.
Until I found Seraphina...
She thought she could deny me. She thought she could choose her fate or determine the course her life would run. She thought she would never love another because she couldn't love herself.
With a shattered heart and rebellious mind, she believed her life was broken. She chose death as an avenue to escape the life she was given, and she believed there was nobody who could stand in her way.
Having been the man who rescued her from a cliff, it was my duty to show her...
...that all her beliefs were wrong.

This is the story about a courtesan seeking peace and stability in her life, and a Master seeking solace in the horrors he had experienced as a result of his failings. Unknowingly to Anthony, she holds the key to his redemption and her recovery.
Anthony was a man born into wealth and privilege. He trained to become a Master from a young arrogant age. In the Society, he trained women to become courtesans for other men to own. The women are broken and rebuilt to suit the needs of the men who own them.
This is the first time Anthony has encounter a woman already broken. She’s suicidal and not ideal for training, yet he wants to rebuild her.
Seraphina is like no other courtesan he has encountered before. She is feral and volatile.
Lily White pulls readers into her dark world by promising hope for the damaged souls. She does this by creating toxic, damaged, and broken characters. They are fighters and survivors of a dirty ugly world where all hope is gone. Yet somehow Lily White finds the courage and strength in her characters to push through the muck of destruction.
I’ve read a good majority of her dark romances. I’ve seen the dirty side of The Director. Yet, I keep coming back because her writing voice is fluid. This book was an okay read. I enjoyed the originality of the storyline. Lily took a traditional storyline of slave and master and made it her own.
While I didn’t fall quickly into the words of Lily like I’ve done in past reads. I still found her talent impressive.
I had to compartmentalize my feelings and separate my personal distaste of the abuse and training tactics used by Aidan. If not then I couldn’t see the true purpose of what Lily White was trying to say.
What I liked was how Lily White exposed a raw and intense side of the Courtesan lifestyle that a Master would normally be unconcerned about. Instead she focused on Anthony, a man once a Master destroyed by the actions of a Courtesan whom he loved.
Aidan and Anthony are both Masters, yet very different in there training tactics. However, there still are rules they both must abide by from the Society.
The Master’s Redemption is a battle between two Masters: Anthony and Aidan and one Courtesan.
Lily White broke through my uncomfortable feelings with her unexpected outcome. This story wasn’t quite what I originally expected. But all the same I enjoyed the journey she provided even if I had to compartmentalize my feelings in the process.
With young naivety comes failure. While it doesn’t seem obvious considering the power these Masters hold over others it’s true that they too can experience weaknesses.
The storyline in this particular dalliance into the dark world of Master/Courtesan, created so graphically, lyrically and compellingly by the writing of Ms. White, is like the unfolding of a complex puzzle box. Every piece fits intricately in and around the other; the whole giving the illusion of a simple form. Redemption, the pervasive theme of the book, is not an overly complex idea. It is vindication, absolution, reclamation, rescue, repossession. The deep dive into the psychological twists and turns of the Master/Courtesan relationship written in the development of the three main characters make up the puzzle of this story of a Master’s redemption.
The story begins with Master Anthony rescuing a woman falling off a cliff. She was intent on suicide. It seems her self-loathing began years ago with early drug abuse. While we applaud Master Anthony for rescuing her, our dark heroine, Seraphina, we become very unsure if he was wise to bring her to Master Aiden’s house.
Told in first-person alternating POVs, Anthony and Seraphina detail an erotic adventure once again not fit for the overly sensitive, judgmental, (those readers who feel the characters need to behave according to their social mores and constructs) or faint hearted.
If this is a world you can walk your psyche through, there is so much beauty and truth on display. And…for the vengeful beast inside of you, just enough comeuppance for the true evil doers. But…for the sinners…ah, you guessed it…there is “redemption”, the Master’s redemption.
“To a man like me, seeing a woman give herself fully, to see her find the sexual creature inside and glorify herself within its power, was the same as seeing God.”

As always Aiden was his usual masterful self but it was Anthony that I was intrigued with. Learning of his past and finally seeing the chink in his armour made you realise cc that although he is a master he is also human. Brilliantly written 5 star story.

Sera had been to hell and back, several times, treated like she wasn't human. She was to be a courtesan not a piece of meat to be treat worse then an animal.
Anthony lost the person he cared about through his loyalty to the Society.
Together, they would heel each other.
And Aiden....you cocky little bastard, absolutely ruthless.
Well done Lily absolutely brilliant as always x
