Let me start by saying that Ms. Taylor has done something that no other romance author has been able to do - she made me LOVE a romance story involving a single mother. I'm not a fan of romance books where the woman is a single mother and I try to avoid them at all cost - sorry, but I'm just being honest (now if hero is secretly the father of child, I'm good with that). How did Ms. Taylor manage to pull it off? She made me a huge fan of this couple from the very first page and by the time the kids appeared, I was beyond hooked on the story. Plus she made the kids so freaking amazing that they really helped to make this book great! Well done, Ms. Taylor!

My quick summary: Hot Asian (love the Asian - need more Asian heros in IR stories) hit man meets African American (dark skin!!!) woman running from her past. Add in hot sex, a story line with real substance, a couple that could not be more well matched (she is a talker!), a hero that knows what he wants and goes after it at any cost, a couple of pre-teens that are just awesome and you have a great story! For me, those kids help to make this book five star worthy. Trust me when I say that you will love them all and find yourself really invested in their HEA.

Before this, The Russian Billionaire had been my all time fav by Ms. Taylor; however, this book has knocked The Russian from my number 1 spot. There were a few grammatical errors near the ending, but nothing that took away from the greatness of the story. Do yourself a favor by gifting yourself this book and enjoy - I know I did!!

This book was pretty good. Story about an African American woman, Lacey and Suro a Japanese hit man. I bought the book because you don't usually see a romance novel with a Japanese hero, much less have him partnered with a black woman. Suro is super attracted to Lacey but she's harboring a secret that she won't reveal to him. So there are lots of pluses to reading this book. First, I was ecstatic that the heroine had dreadlocks, yes!!!!! A black woman with natural, kinky hair!!!! So often black women are described in romance novels as if they are white women dipped in chocolate. I know we black women come in all shades, shapes, and sizes, but you'd never know that from reading romance novels or watching music videos, so it was a pleasant surprise to see the heroine had locks. Second, the love scenes between Suro and Lacey are hot and steamy. I liked that Suro was an alpha man but not ridiculously domineering and controlling. I even liked that he was really quiet and he was patiently waiting for Lacey to trust him. I REALLY liked the fact that they both had kids with Aspergers, again, how often do you see that in a romance novel?!

So the only minuses for me were 1) book too short and 2) book had an interesting plot but character development felt a little short, particularly for Suro. I actually did not get a sense that they were falling in love at all and I think that's it's hard to see that aspect of their relationship develop because the book was too short. It also would have been nice to see the epilogue developed into several more chapters: what happens as they try to make a blended family work, especially with two emerging teens with Aspergers? 3) they really didn't address their cultural differences.

I bought this book last night and couldn't put it away until I was finished reading it. I've read all of the books in the series and this one by far is my favorite! The book had it all - would highly recommend it to all.

Interesting read with entertaining plot twists. The story was going great and then it just stalled out in the last few chapters. Suro and Lacey were great characters but they disappeared during this part of the story. You got somewhat useful filler information on characters from a previous book and waiting for news of Suro's possible death. It wasn't a long story so why not get more play by play action from Suro. The man was defending his combined family from drug lords at the end. Instead you get a couple of sentences letting you know oh this is what happened. Seems like there should have been more to it than that. They did get a happy HEA which was nice.

Suro & Tasha are truly two individuals that have had to fight for everything that they have in their lives. Suro was born into a family of privilege but still had to prove himself. Tasha was blessed to grow up in love with little to nothing but has never had to question whether or not she belonged. Tasha fell in love with a self entitled brat that thought he was invincible due to his father. Suro married a heartless woman that never cared about anything but herself. Suro, Tasha, Kenji, Sparkle, and Spidey are truly a family blended and devoted to only see the very best in each other despite their pasts. This is truly a remarkable story that is so heart felt and appreciated.

Theodore Taylor has such unique characters in her novels. Two autistic teens who love and compose opera. The single Asian father of one is a semi retired hitman and the single African American mother of the other teen is on the run because she witnessed a cartel murder. The parents are attracted to each other from the start which is good because their kids want them to hookup permanently. It was a joy to read. It was worth five stars.
