The story will mainly revolve around two people, Emerson and Chelsea. They were lovers n college, practice a D/s BDSM lifestyle until Emerson had a dream that altered their lives, where he felt he was being called to the Priesthood. Fast forward more than a decade, and Emerson has left his position in the church, moved to Amsterdam and is back with Chelsea. The story is their journey and is explicit in sexual scenes including spanking, punishments, and sexual practices. What the story is not is an abuse of a priest over a parishioner or any form of pedophilia.
From college to present day, these two lovers had a deep connection. “She wanted to feel his dominance at all times—not just went she broke a rule.” “She desired his control and his dominance.”
Their relationship is heavy into domination, sadomasochism, discipline, and taboo. “The marks of her lover—her disciplinarian—her priest. The marks of his protection, his possessiveness, and the marks of his concern.” “Emerson was her soul mate. He fulfilled every inch of her—emotionally, physically, socially, and intellectually.”
The plot will take this couple on a journey that will separate them and eventually bring them back together. Their love and desire for each other are stronger than the pull for him to be a Priest. With the church allowing outside Priest of other religions to come in and serve in the Catholic faith as married men, will Emerson be able to appeal to the Vatican for the same clemency? “She knew his desires, dreams, and fears. She even knew how torn her was between the Catholic Church and his carnal love for—His woman.”
However, the fantasy of Megan Michaels' vision of the Catholic Church and its willingness to consider reasoned arguments to the question of priestly celibacy had me dropping out of my "willing suspension of disbelief," I have a couple of other significant quibbles as well. Were they apart for 10 years or had he been a priest for 10 years? They're not remotely the same thing, given how long Catholic seminary can take. The impression given is that he was experienced as a priest, but if it had only been 10 years, there's no way he had more than a few years of experience. And my other quibble comes as a spoiler alert since it occurs late in the book.
So, OK, maybe I can accept that the Vatican would OK Emerson as a married priest, but they completely ignored an equally large obstacle to the 2 of them marrying: Chelsea is divorced and would need an annulment to marry in the church and those things can take years to get, if you can get one.

This well-written book is very hot, especially with the inclusion of what to some is a taboo subject – the joining together of religion and kink. It kept me enthralled and unwilling to stop reading late into the night. As it is the first of a series I look forward to the next book in the series.
I devoured it, and I rarely do that anymore as life does not allow it.
It is a blazing hot, tender, sensual, brutal, humiliating read. It delves into wholly dark fantasies about the Catholic church, which absolutely captivated me.
I don't want to give anything away, but if you enjoy spanking romance and BDSM, just do yourselves a favour and READ it!
Thank you, Megan Michaels. Just. Wow!
