Krystal and Jill have a wonderful job showing people around the city. On this particular assignment they find themselves as guides for Prince Johann "John" van Koppelberg and his “bodyguard” Gus. Krystal is really impressed by John and his natural politeness. I liked how Krystal and John hit it off right away. John has come to the Rockies for a vacation, but will he find more than just a place to relax and enjoy the sights?
I really liked Gus and his loyalty to John. I can just imagine how intimidating Gus must be with his tall stature and quiet nature. Krystal was a great character and I liked how she enjoyed being able to show off the town to John and Gus. I fell in love with the places the author described from hiking up the mountains to a place called little town. The story is short but filled with adventure and faith. The main quality John said he wanted in someone he would marry was that they loved God as much as he did. At the end of John’s stay, he realizes how much he has fallen in love with Colorado. Is it possible that there is something else keeping him there?
Don’t miss this great story about adventure, romance and the wonderful state of Colorado.
I received a copy of this book from the author. The review is my own opinion.
I liked this short story set in the spectacular mountains known for it's beauty and majesty. In it, you get to know more about the area without even leaving your comfortable reading chair. The author brings the splendor right to your doorstep with vivid descriptions. I liked how Joann's character throws all stereotyping of royalty out the window with his warm personality and friendly ways. He wants to experience everything firsthand himself and leaves the planned agenda in the dust! Krystal at first is a bit baffled by Johann, but is soon charmed by his wit and adventurous ways. Seeing things through his eyes gives new meaning to the word fun. I even enjoyed getting to know his assistant Gus and her cousin Jill. All in all, a good romantic story set in a beautiful place with characters who love God and country. In my mind it rounds out with the John Denver song running in my head; “Rocky Mountain High”.
*I received a copy from the author. I was not obligated to leave a favorable review and all opinions expressed here are my own. *
There is much to like about this story; from the characters, “being a tourist” as I read along with Prince Johann “John” Koppelberg and his bodyguard/friend, Gus, to the vivid descriptions of the beauty and majestic Colorado mountains...I could almost see those mountains from those descriptions. The Colorado Tour Guides, Krystal Black and her cousin, Jill Lancieri, planned out a unique schedule to fit John’s month long stay, however, neither John nor Krystal planned the sparks that drew them together. I liked John’s one main quality for a wife: “someone that loved God as much as I do”. Another comment he made I really liked was regarding living in his estate/kingdom...not being a place but being inside of him. I really enjoyed the secondary characters and the way they brought more to the story-line. I appreciate the spiritual elements to the story.
At the end of the story is a note from the author sharing how much of a fan she is of John Denver and how she tried to recapture the feeling of his song, “Rocky Mountain High”, in her story, Her Rocky Mountain Highness, which I think she did with her characters and vivid descriptions. John Denver’s song ran through my mind as I read this fun, heartwarming story.
~I received a PDF copy of this book from the author (no monetary gain were exchanged), this is my honest review~
This novella starts with Krystal and her cousin Jill who work for a tourism company waiting at the international airport for her newest client a Prince Johan (John) and his body guard. In the back ground we hear John Denver's Rocky Mountain High being sung which sets the theme for this book. We also learn Prince Johan is Blonde and Blue eyed and his body guard is tall and burly.
Right from the start we can see the Prince isn't what you expect of royalty. He is a normal guy wanting to just have a break where he can be himself. He also comes from a royal family who no longer have a kingdom due to wars but still have a title and his kingdom was in mountains so seeing the Rockies touch his soul. Krystal loves to show of her Rockies and loves her job for this reason.
We also see interaction between Jill and Gus, John's bodyguard and close friend. I like books where the secondary characters are also included in the story. This is another book I really enjoyed.
