At first the title did not appeal to me. I read the 2 reviews and I became very curious. This is one of the best romance novels I have read to date. The love Jake and Jianne share is wonderful. They both were very young when they married. They separated shortly after their marriage. Jake found out about Jianne's wealth and Jianne felt neglected by Jake. Jake put all of his time in Karate. After 12 years, they reunited when Jianne ask Jake for protection from a stalker. Both matured and realized they both had faults which caused their separation. They learn to appreciate each other's background. Jake's love for his family is unconditional. He would go to any lengths to protect his family. I love both characters. I read this in one night and will definitely read it a over and over again. A must read.

I am now obsessed with Kelly Hunter. I had just finished reading her book 'The Man She Loved To Hate' and was so enthralled with her style of writing that I had to find another one of her books, stat! 3 of the 4 reviews on here convinced me this was the book to get and I'm so glad I did! (The 4th review I have no idea why the reviewer felt the way she did about certain things. I felt their past was adequately explained, I didn't notice any loose ends, and the claim that there was no chemistry between the two is SO off base, its laughable. Jacob and Jianne fairly burn up the pages with their connection and chemistry.)

I don't often review books, in fact this is only the 2nd time I've done it. But the story of Jacob and Jianne is just so beautiful and poignant, I had to. The way he yearns for her, his raging passion and desire, how protective he is, his determination in wanting only the best for her at the expense of his heart (believing she deserves better than him and his simple way of life)... I fell in love with this wonderful, caring, sexy man.

Jianne is the type of heroine I adore. She's sassy and funny, yet calm and poised; sensual and sexy, provocative, yet not overtly so. Her sexuality is natural and understated. And she knows EXACTLY how to push Jacob's buttons...

"Just because you can sleep in a room that's all lit up like a carnival ride," she muttered. "Sadist."
"Me?" That was rich, coming from her. "Me?" He leaned in close and put his lips to her ear. "Hey, you're the one who's been up there doing the naughty all by yourself, princess. Did you think I wouldn't notice? Or that I wouldn't spend the rest of the day wondering exactly how you helped yourself and where? To my way of thinking that makes you the sadist, not me.

This may well be the best category romance I have ever read! I LOVED Her Singapore Fling.

I don't read a lot of category romance mostly because I find the names of the books sooooo contrived and frankly it turns me off buying these books. I will pick up the occasional category romance by one of my favorite authors like a Blaze by Jill Shalvis or Lisa Renee Jones or an Intrigue by HelenKay Dimon or a Super Romance by Sarah Mayberry but I've never read a Harlequin Presents Extra - and my question is WHY THE HELL NOT!!!!!! I couldn't believe how good this book was and in fact I goggled Harlequin Presents Extra to see what the requirements were for this genre and not surprisingly - it is everything I am looking for in a great book.

I'm not sure what prompted me to purchase this book. The name reminded me of a particularly delicious fruity drink, the cover was suggestive and seductive and the back cover blurb definitely caught my attention. I devoured this book in one day. I know it's no War and Peace but the fact that once I started Her Singapore Fling that I wanted to finish it immediately speaks volumes about just how much I enjoyed it.

Yes this book is part of a series by Kelly Hunter and although I joined in the series at the end, I don't feel I missed any pertinent info regarding the Bennett family dynamics. The author doesn't do a lot if any backloading of the previous siblings and I do plan to make the acquaintance of the entire Bennett family and read Hunter's other books in the series. I can only imagine they are as good as this one was. Kelly Hunter just went on my auto-buy author list.
