This time around, we have Clay and George. Clay's lying low as he waits to give his testimony after his undercover gig in a biker gang. He's...not in the best emotional place when we first meet him. He's trying to come to terms with some of the things he did while undercover and he's worried he has a target on his back. Given that he was very openly marked while in the gang, that whole lying low thing is harder than it would normally be.
Enter George, the doctor who can help him get rid of evidence of his time in a gang. The doctor he's undeniably attracted to after the first time they meet. On her end, she's kinda itching for him too. But the whole doctor/patient thing makes her throw on the brakes. Plus, she's dealing with her own personal issues that make getting involved with someone problematic.
I'm seriously SERIOUSLY in love with this series and how shattered these characters are. Their journey out of their own personal darkness is captivating and sad and I'm very, very glad we get to revisit these guys (in later books) once they've found their HEA to see how they're doing.

Clay knows what he looks like- a big bigger dude with a lot of tattoos but he wants, needs, to change. But in order to change he needs George's help. He wants to trust her but is it safe to ke down his guard.
George has been without a companion in so long, she's forgotten how to be social. For some reason, she sees good in Clay, good even he has troubles seeing himself. There's trouble on the horizon, though, and Clay's not sure how it will end.
Like the first book, these are 2 very flawed people who want somebody to love but aren't convinced they're deserving. You won't be disappointed by this book and I can't wait for the next one!
A great read from a very good author.
