Hercules DJ Console 4-mx (beginner/Intermediate start up controller)
on March 25, 2013
When i first got the midi controller i was excited and anxious to try it out. At first it is a bit confusing with the setup and the manual does the bare minimum to help. At the time when i purchased the controller i was an intermediate virtual dj user starting to try controllers. As my first controller it was pretty good and after a while you tend to figure everything out on your own. The kill switches were really prime and djing at college parties having a built in sound card came in handy. The mixer has its kinks and some trouble sometimes with freezes and crashes which occurred a few times lucky only once while playing a live set. Now that i have had this controller for over 6 months its time to move forward. There is only so much you can do with this controller with virtual dj LE and now that i have tried other programs i tend to like Serato and Traktor a little better considering the effects are better and come standard, unlike VDJ which wants to charge like $199-$299. Now after so long the controller is still cool but i wouldn't recommend for more advanced djs.
- If you are a beginner/intermediate DJ looking to start somewhere, this controller is great and will start you up.
- If you looking for something with better scratching capabilities, better effects, master tempo and mixing, beatmaching/locking, looping and sampling, then do not get this mixer is obsolete. Buy something along the lines of a Numark N series, or pioneer ddj1. or if you can afford it, the pioneer ddj sx.
The controller is alright for a while but after a bit gets old when you become better at mixing and realize there are controllers with better quality sound cards, especially in the highs, mids, and lows, cooler effects and better overall for sampling and looping.
