GREAT work ethic presented in this book. Very valuable for kids to know that luck doesn't come into it. If you want to succeed you have to practice, practice and work hard!
Recommended as one of our son's second grade reading books I can attest that this book is a good pick for that age. (Our son is 6 1/2.) The text is spread out so easy to follow along with your finger. Although definitely more many lines on each page than a Level 1 book (this is a Level 2 book) it is not too overwhelming and the illustrations are interesting. Depending on the reading level of your child they may want to read a few pages at a time as it is 64 pages long! HOWEVER I believe that this is the kind of book that your child will pick up and read because they want to and not because they have to.
Please note that I purchased this book at the prevailing FULL PRICE. I was not requested to do a review but chose to do so. Thanks, Liz
I loved sharing a story about a game I love but even more I enjoyed the lesson it taught: Things don't always come easy but if you work hard and persevere they CAN come.
One of sport's greatest values is the life lesson playing them teaches - this book fit in with that.
