5.0 out of 5 starsGreat compact, high quality earbuds with cool noise cancellation features
ByVon June 14, 2017
I bought Here One to use as part of my daily commute on the train (Muni in the Bay Area)/bus. My other headphones are Bose over-ears which are great but I wanted something more compact and portable. These definitely fit the bill!
The Good
- Sound quality: they are clearly way better than other earbuds in the market. This is really great sound quality especially compared to Apple earbuds and they were a close second to my Bose headphones.
- Adjustable noise cancellation is super cool. The use case for it was very clear when I was commuting — sitting down, cancel out everything. When I was about to get off at my stop, let in some outside noise so I could hear anyone talk as i’m squeezing my way out through the crowd. I don’t wear my Bose noise canceling headphones during my commute for this exact reason, and Here One solves that problem.
- Noise cancellation quality was very good. I was amazing it blocked out that much sound without an over-ear headset.
- The compact size is awesome. My Bose noise canceling headphones are huge, and I love them so I make the sacrifice to lug them around with me to work, on trips, etc. If I can replace my Bose set with these, much less to carry.
- In-ear phones like Beats never fit my ears, and always fall out, no matter which fitting size I use. Apple earbuds usually fit snugly. The Here one fit as snugly as the Apple earbuds. I worked out with them and they did not fall out. I also didn't worry about sweat affecting them because they are sweat-resistant
- This was the rare case when an email walk-through and tutorials were actually helpful. Felt like these emails were well put together, concise, and offered tips about the things that were actually on my mind.
Improvements Needed
- When I first started using the Here One, pairing was a hassle. I needed to keep pairing three things before I was up and going. Then, I checked out the company’s support site and it walked me through a reset which fixed the problem. Once I found the solution, it was pretty easy.
- I’m still not quite sure how to get value out of the additional noise filters on top of the +/- noise cancellation. I used the MUNI/BART option when I was on muni, and it felt to me like it was very similar to general noise cancellation. Also, do I use them together or only one at a time?
- I found myself wanting to control music track skipping and volume by tapping my headset (instead of calling Siri). Personally would prefer that functionality for the headset tap.
