Would've loved to sit in the sound studio during the recording and mixing of this album. Each song is an amped up remix and unique spin on very diverse styles of rock, R&B, funk and big band going back decades. The sound is a bit close to the Lo-Fi style of The White Stripes, The Black Keys and Cold War Kids but still unique and original.

Bought the CD on Amazon right after first seeing Willy Moon perform live on the Palladia cable TV channel several days ago. Can't believe he's only made one album since 2013. The guy really knows how to bring in the bass and make it funky, my favorite of course is "Yeah Yeah". I kept playing it in my car over and over again just to hear that big boxy, natural sounding kick bass playing through my subs in the trunk.

When was the last time you could crank up big, live arena sounding rock and rhythm & blues music recorded decades ago without it sounding like crap? I never could. I can now with this album.

Fresh ensemble worth following. Remember the jolt the first time you heard the Fleshtones? Speed/Thrash-Pop when it was new and exciting? This band really hit me. Not agit-pop, but reminds me of it. Dark, brooding sound, yet NOT "goth" in any way. It is stark. Maybe contemporary No-Wave? Taught, sparse arrangements. Pared down, lean and clean production values. Haunting back beats and overdubs. Excellent use of percussion and bass as lead instruments. A valid stab at finding the lost chord. If you like to explore new directions in anti-top 40 music, if you appreciated Gorillaz, you'll like this a lot. Worth the time to listen to repeatedly (something I don't say lightly).

I actually liked this album. I really liked the fact that he has such an old style, yet he makes it sound new. My only issue is that the songs are too short. However, a lot of old songs by artist like Buddy Holly are short too.

I heard one song of his on Pandora radio and fell in love with it so I bought the cd. It's not bad, but seems kind of disjointed, A couple of songs are so fabulous you just stand there and think "Holy smokes! What was that?" and you have to play it again but because its too good to be real. Then the rest of the CD is a kind mashup of rap/techno/standards that don't really fit well. But I will definitely be looking for his next CD to see if he made up his mind as to what he wants to be when he grows up.

Willy Moon is best live. His power in a live performance comes from the dynamic duo backing him up. Gigi on drums and Julie on guitar! Gigi is a power drummer, that really gives his live show Pop! Julie's razor tight guitar really puts on an Edge! I don't know if these two are playing on the CD, but it falls a little flat, compared to their live performance on "Jools Hollands" show. The best songs on the CD are "Get up", "I wanna be your man", "Shakin" and "Yeah Yeah".

Cool album. It's a shame that he presents such a pretentious image. It's an interesting feeling that comes when you have a piece of work from an artist that you respect. It adds to it. Nonetheless, the music is still good.

This is very different from anything I've heard in a while. I'm not even sure what to call Willie Moon's style. Vampy POP tinged with Big Band???? Hybrid Stevie Ray Vaughn/ Micheal Buble? Either way my ears loved it. Nice Debut!

Willy Moon nails it about half the time on this disc. He's not authentic soul but you could do a lot worse. Rather than trying for real songs that tell stories and have messages, he goes for mood, the suggestion of hooks and lyrics. His scatting isn't free or expressive enough to transform most of this into gold. But his backup is hot, and when he does connect he takes it pretty far. A nice appetizer for the real thing.
