Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Enthusiasm forcolonizing Mars seems to grow every day as various private groups vie to becomethe first to send settlers. I wonder what life on Mars will be like, especially the psychological challenges of being confined with fellow colonistsin fairly small habitats. I suspect Earth will not offer reliable long-termsupport, so if settlers can survive, they'll be on their own very soon.Everything they'll need to build a home is there - they just have to find it,dig it from the regolith, and perform the steps for purifying, fabricating, designing, building, growing, etc. all by themselves, and all while living on aplanet where stepping unprotected onto the surface will be fatal. Piece ofcake, no?
In Glory on Mars, join the first settlers to face dangers that follow them from Earth, and an inexplicable senseof desolation that threatened their survival. In Born on Mars, travel with the secondgeneration of Mars-borns to a new settlement of Chinese and Africans who may be able to save their failing colony.
Now there's Hermit on Mars.

Itake inspiration from the world around me, so Hermit includes a breakaway groupliving in a cavern suggested by ancient native American cliff-dwellers, butwith the technology essential to Mars as they defy the colony's norms. As Sigstruggles to save the cavern's failing robotic life support systems, he alsostruggles with his own failing relationships - personally and with his roboticsteam. Because, as different as life on Mars will be, the settlers will be ashuman as you and me.

From the Back Cover

A call for help sends Sig into the Tartarus Mountains of Mars. Delivering repair parts to his mother offers a temporary escape from his miserable life in the colony, but there are dangers in her cavern and on the surface of the hostile Red Planet he hadn't expected.
Join Sig exploring rugged mountains under Martian moons and daring the strange dunes of the Amazon Plain. He's going to save his mother and the others who live in the cavern whether they accept his help or not. Provided he survives.
