On the outside looking in Carly would pass as someone who is enjoying life. Someone who has suffered heartache, along with being a widow while still trying to understand why.
Dane looks to be the average soldier recovering from an injury while serving abroad. When Dane only states just a `leg injury' it really makes me wonder why he is not receiving any mental help.
This novel givers readers a look into several secondary characters lives along with Carly and Dane. Thankfully none of the secondary characters overwhelmed the main characters.
This novel was well written. It showed how people move on after the loss of a loved one. The heartache is still there but shows that the hurt can be healed with time, love, patience and the love of someone else.
I highly recommend this book. Can't wait to read the others.
Thanks for a wonderful read Ms. Pappano. The bunnies and I really enjoyed this book.
The bunnies and I give this book 5 carrots.
He carries a secret which he hopes Carly will never find out but as their friendship grows she is determined to prove to him that life is worth living and especially if you have someone to share it with. When Carly finds the reason why he is in Tallgrass Dane has to convince her that his love is strong enough to keep her.
I love the friendships that develop between the widows and how they are always there for each other! Each one has their own story of heartache and you find yourself sharing their feelings. This author has written a wonderful book about Carly and Dane and I have already read the second book in this series and can hardly wait for the third installment!!
Supporting characters Therese and Jessy were interesting and should have their own story. Therese will and I can hardly wait to read it. She has a tough life raising her dead husband's children. Their mother doesn't want them and she made a promise to him that she would take care of them. Neither one of t h e kids want to be with her, especially Abby. She needs an attitude adjustment-big time!
