I always seem to go back to reading Historical Romances and then I wonder why I ever left to go to modern day! A Hero to Hold sucked me in from the start and wouldn’t let me go.
Charlotte, the poor girl, was hit with a giant scandal: a scandal of love, and lies, and affairs. David, a strong courageous man was injured in the war. Can they both heal each other and find love in the process, or will another truth crack their fragile relationship?
The story was incredibly well written and believable. Charlotte the sweet, unsuspecting Viscountess, and David the battered war hero were a beautifully matched pair, and I loved the faith they put in each other. I, of course, loved Persa, and as much as I wanted to hate Vivian, I couldn’t. I’m really hoping that Wakefield gets his own book *wink wink*
Overall, very complex characters and amazing love story I couldn’t put down. Would recommend to any historical romance friends!
Received a copy in exchange for an honest review. Read and reviewed by Shannon for Alpha Book Club
Having only experienced coldness and deception from the men in her life, Charlotte wants nothing to do with the handsome man she’s just impulsively kissed in the shadows at a ball. David, a war hero who has his own wounds, is startled by this lovely woman’s attention but doubts anything can come of it given that she hasn’t noticed that he can’t walk.
A few days later, when they are thrown together unexpectedly, the sparks fly and the emotional walls come up. With secrets and danger threatening to destroy Charlotte, she’s challenged to find her inner strength to fight for her own survival. Will David realize that although he’s wounded, he can keep her safe? Will they both get past their fears and accept the possibilities of love with each other?
I rate this novel a 5 star because it’s well written and the story carries you through. You will enjoy spending time with these compelling characters.
