For the game:
"Blizzard's take on the team-based shooter is as polished as you'd expect, marrying tactical breadth with an emphasis on variety and inclusivity." -- The Guardian"It has been a very long time since I've felt this much passion for a game. Overwatch is a perfect storm. It's a new IP, looks gorgeous, plays phenomenally and singlehandedly rekindled my desire to play a genre of game I thought I'd left behind at this point." -- Forbes"Overwatch is an amazing experience. It's fresh and consistently fun, with matches that are great in random groups, but astonishingly good when played with friends. Blizzard has taken its masterful art of polishing and perfection to the team shooter, and things will never be the same. " -- Game InformerFor the book:"An engrossing read with smooth pacing and action-packed scenes.... Readers will root for this STEM-focused girl hero." -- Kirkus

I’m surprised at how compelling a character Efi was, and how adorable Drayden managed to make Orisa. I found myself more invested in this story than I thought I would be, and rooting for them even after their many blunders.
If I have any complaints it’s that the more heavy handed of the game references can feel forced. Overwatch players love their voice lines, so I expected to see some integrated into the dialogue. This was done very well with Orisa. However, with characters like Lucio and Doomfist, it was pretty cringy.
Also when a few the game’s abilities were used, there wasn’t much edit into describing how they worked or even how they looked. I imagine if I didn’t already have inside knowledge, I could have easily been confused.
Overall, it’s a great read if you’re an Overwatch fan, and still pretty fun ifIf you’re not.
It's YA, but written so that is it enjoyable as an adult as well. Nicky Drayden was the perfect tap to author this story. Her software analyst background lent her the ability to spin the best angle for 11 year old robotacist Efi to repurpose an OR15 in order to be a proper defense against Doomfist as well as protector of Numbani.
I absolutely loved this book as well as the writing style of Nicky. I can't wait to explore her other works.
Orisa finally going online was the moment I was waiting for and she had a lot of ups and downs as well trying to learn to work out her programming.
It's a journey that doesn't disappoint and you should definitely check it out if you're a fan of the lore.
