This is a good basic brush. My bichon has fine hair that is super curly. That means it tangles easily, and can mat especially in certain areas. I brush her a couple of times per week, and some brushes pull and are uncomfortable. When that happens, she’s not shy about letting me know.
She’s totally at ease when I use this brush on her, but it also does a good job getting down to her skin (without scratching) and getting the loose hairs and tangles. I can easily brush her all over, even her sensitive feet and under her neck, without her pulling away. In fact, the worst thing about brushing sessions now is that she might be dozing and not want to turn over!
As shown in the pics, getting the hair out of the brush is super easy, and to clean it, I use a wipe with the bristles down.
The handle is comfortable enough. I don’t use it for long stretches, so it might be different if I were brushing a bigger dog.
I’ve only had it for a month or so now, so if anything shows up long-term, I’ll update. So far, though, it’s exactly what we wanted.
t's the funniest thing because they all three gather around, coming in for a brushing. One wants to stay and get brushed forever, but I move to a second cat. They all move into position in front of me, on the floor, while I sit on the sofa. Then after a few minutes, I switch over to cat three, and the system keeps repeating itself. I will definitely buy a second brush soon. Wouldn't want to be without one! That's for sure.
The retractable bristles were the game changer for me. I hated fishing out all the hair from the trad brushes, and the furminator had to be released every brush, which was ineffective with my cats tolerance threshold.
My cats actually rubbed their faces against the brush as well, effectively brushing their own faces for me! I think they approve as well.

The contraption to clean the fur after brushing work about 90% of the time which is not bad. Sometimes it get stuck but after some wiggle and tucking it get the fur out and all bristles safely tucked in.

Safe to say keeping her knot free can be an issue. Although I'm lucky she loves to be brushed.
I have tried many different types of bushes for long hair animals and this is the only one that gets through all her layers so I don't miss any knots. For that alone I would recommend this brush to any pet owner in a similar situation.
Add in the self cleaning aspect which is idiot proof and works wonders, hands down best pet brush I have ever had.
Wish I could give it 10 stars.
On this occasion, however, this brush is at least as good as the seller makes out.
On the plus side, it is easy to use, rarely catches on tangled or matted hair and it is very convenient not having to pluck the hair from the brush! The cherry on top is that because it doesn't tug much, both our dogs are calm when it is used on them.
The only negative thing I would say is the range of sizes is very limited. A small version, half the size of this would be perfect for the difficult to reach places.
I am happy to recommend this brush; we use it on our Scottish Terriers aged 6m and 18m.
