Matt Simmons is over Army doctors poking him. But when his sister won’t stop nagging him to see their old babysitter, now a sought-after physical therapist, he gives in just to get some peace.
Penny is finally putting down roots after a lifetime of moving around. She’s got everything she wants, except the settled suburban life she longs for. All she needs is the perfect guy, which means NO military men.
When Matt realizes that his old babysitter is h-o-t, he’s suddenly seeing the benefits of therapy. But Penny still sees him as the bratty kid she used to babysit.
Suddenly he has a new mission in life…
WARNING:This book contains an elderly lothario, a heroine who’s not afraid to get in your face, and the kind of sex therapy that med school doesn’t teach. This is a full-length, stand-alone novel. No cliffhangers, no cheating & HEA guaranteed!

Review
Once again M Malone has done an outstanding job...it was like watching a romance movie on the big screen. The chemistry the two main characters have between one another made the story so real and very believable. If you are looking for a hot romance read then ... get this book ASAP. -S. About the author

M. Malone is a RITA® Award winner and a NYT & USA Today Bestselling author of completely inappropriate romantic comedy. She lives with her husband and their two sons in the picturesque mountains of Northern Virginia even though she is afraid of insects, birds, butterflies and other humans.
Since starting her indie publishing journey in 2011, she has sold over a million books and her titles have hit the NYT and USA Today bestseller lists more than a dozen times.
She also holds a Master's degree in Business from a prestigious college that would no doubt be scandalized at how she's using her expensive education. MinxMalone.com

One of the things I really like about this series is that the women are strong, independent, and accomplished: they don't seek to be defined by a relationship and while they desire a HEA, they aren't twiddling their thumbs waiting for a man to find or rescue them either. I also love the strong family bond in the Alexander family. I like the fact that it's the men who are the first to acknowledge that they are in love and they are willing to wait until the heroine recognizes and acknowledges that they are in love too. We also get to visit with characters from previous books so we get to see how they are doing, which is great.
I was a little disappointed that Penny did violate the boundary between patient and client: I know this is a common theme in romance novels but it's unethical and in real life Penny could have lost her license. It was also a little unrealistic that she would be still doing clinical practice and have a Ph.D: most people with Ph.D.'s are doing research in a hospital setting and/or teaching. They might have some clinical hours but that wouldn't be their primary role.
The one thing I find puzzling, and I've said this in a prior review, is that the author slowly gives us little hints that the Alexanders' are African American. On one hand, I want to shout: WHY IS THIS A SECRET?!! There are so few books in the romance genre that features people of color, that the more we have, the better!!! As an African American woman, it is frustrating to see blacks as either secondary sidekicks or as completely absent from most books: it's like we disappeared from the planet.
On the other hand, maybe the author is trying to make a point that their race really shouldn't matter. The Alexanders are a regular, loving family that have their ups and downs and mini-dramas just like other families. Until the author subtly mentions their race, you don't even notice it and perhaps that's her point.
So, in a way I applaud this choice (if that's why race is so subtle in the books) but I do feel a little sad that one aspect of the characters that surely has somewhat shaped who they are is basically not addressed. It's hard to imagine growing up in the U.S. & not have race EVER come up. It also makes me a little sad because as a woman of color, it's nice to read about characters who actually look like me: I'm tired of 24 year old ingenues with green eyes who are worried about being too "curvy" when they wear a size 10.
Nonetheless, it's a great series and I have already bought the ne t two books in the series. Well done!!!!
Mara, Matt's sister discovered their old babysitter Penny is a rising star in the medical field and a miracle worker to those in her care. So what does any loving sister do...of course meddle and arrange an appointment behind his back.
Penny may be a hero to those she rehabilitates, however she hides behind that career to protect herself. She was a military kid, moving place to place leaving little room for her to trust or get close to anyone. Despite Matt's sarcasm and anger, Penny feels drawn to Matt. He slowly gets her to face those insecurities, while facing his own.
Despite the mini blurb intro about not being some love story.. it is. Trust me my heart sank when I first read that. It's just not your typical one as it does address the emotions and demons some military men face from being in action. It is a touching love story, with a crazy action scene ending. AND let's not forget you get to hear more about the character's of the other books including the birth of Nick and Raina's baby. The author also prepares you for the next book in the series which is about Elliott and Kaylee.
The author has done an amazing job intertwining the books and characters. Even though the stories are not all action you are so drawn into the character's lives that you want to hear about what is going on with each of them. What started out as a casual read is now a series I eagerly await the next book for.
I think I would have enjoyed this book more if I had read the series from the beginning, and got to know everybody little by little, instead of having them all thrown in on me at once. Although there are no cliffhangers, it didn't seem to work as well as it could have as a stand-alone. For those who have been following "The Alexanders" from the beginning, you will probably really enjoy this book. Otherwise, it just didn't do a whole lot for me.
