The new hexubgs that can go vertical are pretty awesome. My son loves hexbugs and has several habitats. This new helix habitat with the vertical elevator thing attaches just fine to his old sets, and of course the old hexbugs work in this too - they just can't go up the vertical part - they pile up at the mouth and have to be removed.

Good idea but unfortunately it doesn't work very well- the nano bugs get stuck in the tubes, especially in the helix bit (cannot climb through this at all) and they do not right themselves when they come out of the tubes upside down- they just buzz around on their side until you set them straight. So not much fun, as you have to keep tipping/shaking the tubes or righting the bugs to keep them moving.

I would not recommend this product to anyone; stay clear of the Hexbug Nano V2 lineup.

We have been faithful Hexbug customers for awhile - we have quite a few sets of the original Nanos, which are an excellent product. We were excited to see the new Nano V2s in the store this past fall and purchased several sets for Christmas for our son.

Unfortunately, the Nano V2s are a flawed design. The sets don't stay together well, the bugs constantly get stuck despite fresh batteries. Squeezing the clear tubes to give the bugs more traction helps sometimes, but not every time. This product was a terrible disappointment and a huge waste of money.

This is a cute idea. The kids were really excited about it at first, but it didn't hold their interest. The batteries seem to die pretty fast and when they start to wear out the nanobugs won't go straight up, but get stuck. The quality of the parts is good but I thought it was overpriced. It just isn't very interactive and it leaves little to the imagination.

The bug keeps getting stuck in the tube connectors and it is generally not a well made toy by design as well as quality control. If I had designed this toy I would not have released it as it does not work well.

My daughter (age 4) has several of the original nano hexbug sets and loves them. She has a lot of fun playing with them, setting up new paths, creating little stories and names for the different bugs. We thought this set would be an excellent next step for her. However, I'm pretty disappointed with the play set. My key issue is the difficulty of taking apart the tubes. I have some serious difficulty taking them apart and she is just frustrated since she cannot separate them to re-configure at all. I'm all for parents playing with their kids but this set allows no independent play since she can't manipulate the parts. (The box says for ages 3+).

Second, it feels light in the number of tube parts included, specifically straight pieces. Maybe they did this to encourage purchasing multiple sets but we were thwarted several times trying to build a few designs for want of another small straight tube.

So, while I still like hex bugs as a toy, I would not recommend this particular set.

The pieces don't fit together seamlessly, causing the the bugs constantly get stuck. The kids enjoyed it for about two hours and now they just play with the nano bugs on the floor instead.

This set has lots of pieces so the configurations are many. Some of the tubes are a little tricky to get apart and mom has to help.
