In Hey Dude's 3rd season, the Bar None is in constant flux. In the span of 13 episodes, we see Ted at his most insane (Inmates Run the Asylum), we see him win Brad over and depart the show at the peak of his powers, we see quirky and superstitious but intelligent Jake join the gang, we are introduced to the always-entertaining bucolic Vlecks, Melody is given a quarter for her college education and later chokes a stuffed bear, we get athletic cameos from Bobby Bulp, Flash McGuire and Captain Lou Albano "Master of the Seven Seas," we learn that the master tape for Hey Dude's "very special episode" (Melody's Brother) is currently lost, and we get yet another addition to the crew, cowboy Kyle, and he encourages Buddy to pursue a career as a rodeo clown. All in 1 season! The show was kicked up a notch when Ted returns, and I'm already waiting for the next season to arrive on DVD. What would make it even better would be some B-roll footage, behind the scenes clips, TV/promo spots, a tour of the ranch, or a 'where are they now' segment. Hey Dude really does have its diehard fans, and I'm one of them. Thank you Shout! Factory for keeping the Bar None flame burning!

All 13 episodes from season three of Hey Dude!! "Melody's Brother" is listed as "This episode was mastered from the only known video source at the time of this release". Which means that SHOUT Factory and Nickelodeon couldn't find a high quality of the episode. They used a episode that someone upload to YouTube. Besides that all of the other 12 episodes are in high quality!! The quality for "Melody's Brother", I would say is good or 3 out of 5. If you love Hey Dude, this is the only way to get all 13 episodes from the season!!

I'm so glad they are continuing with this, this show has so much nostalgia,it brings you back to a time when tv was great to watch and you didn't have to worry about stupid reality shows, its too bad about the Melody's brother episode with the picture quality, but i'm sure Shout and Viacom did the best they could with it,other than that all the other eps look great, especially the last one, the only other disapointment is no special features at all, it would have been nice to have a commentary on one of the episodes with one of the cast members or maybe a gag reel or something, but hopefully they are saving it for the last 2 seasons, its just really great to have this show on dvd,its been a long long wait,so i shouldn't complain too much, cant wait for season 4, yippie tai yaye yay!!! yippie tai yaye what?

Hey Dude fans have much to look forward to in this anticipated release of season 3. This is the season that introduces Jake and Kyle to the cast and includes one of the funniest episodes 'Inmates Run the Asylum' where Ted goes mad with power. DVD also includes the "lost" episode 'Melody's Brother' in bootleg form, which is the hilarious PSA episode about drinking (I love it when shows like this try to do serious episodes). I hope these sell well, as I'm looking forward to owning seasons 4 and 5(5 being my favorite of the lot).

I am so glad that season 3 is coming to DVD. The running time of these DVD are 325 minutes, so it should include all 13 episodes. The past digital releases did not include the Melody's Brother episode.

I doubt any kid that grew up in the late 80's or early 90's doesn't have memories of Hey Dude! How could you not love the Nickelodeon show about the adventures of the teen staff at a dude ranch in Arizona? Season 3 has been released, which means we are over half way through the show now.

It also means we've hit the year of the cast changes. After only two episodes in season two, Ted (David Lascher) leaves because he has to attend summer school. But before he does, he becomes a dictator when placed in charge of the ranch for a day and finally gets Brad (Kelly Brown) to go on a date with him. Her reaction to finding out he has to leave is so touching.

That also means that they bring in some new cast members. For most of this season, that's Jake (Jonathan Galkin), nephew of ranch owner Mr. Ernst (David Brisbin). Initially, he wants to leave, and his cousin Buddy (Josh Tygiel) wants him gone just as much. But then he changes his mind and tries to fit in. And in the season finale, we also meet Kyle (Geoffrey Coy), the teenage son of a friend of adult ranch hand Lucy (Debrah Kalman). And the sparks start to fly almost right away between Kyle and Brad.

So what else is happening around the ranch this season? Brad enters a jumping show. Lifeguard Melody (Christine Taylor) gets visits from both her best friend and her brother. Buddy tries to reunite his parents and decides he needs to move out…to the guy's bunkhouse. And Danny (Joe Torres)? Well, Danny just tries to hang on with all the other hijinks happening around the ranch. And there's plenty of fun going on as Melody stops being a nice guy and the ranch gets into a baseball game with their rivals down the road for water rights.

Okay, so it's not exactly great TV.

It's not your typical teenager sitcom. This is something that is actually worth letting your kids watch. The acting isn't overly refined but the plots are ones that actually teach something, Always loved singing along to the catchy theme song...
