My last off-brand jack folded in half on me so I decided to get the Hi-lift brand extreme. When it arrived it already looked and felt leaps and bounds better and more durable than my previous jack.
I keep it inside unless I’m going wheeling, mounted it in my bed last night for the first time for a quick run, but by the time I got back Very large portions of the powder coat were missing and the jack had rust everywhere!
When I took the jack off the powder coat came off on my hands, it’s literally water soluble!
If it gets wet the powder coat will sluff off, then it rusts.
It’s like the powder never got baked. So, if you intend to actually use this, either have it repowdercoated or painted the day it arrives, otherwise you will be sad like me.
For $25-40 more than all the other jacks on the market I expect Much better than this from Hi-lift!
Based on many videos I thought it would work great for old fence post removal. Well it worked but it also tried to bend in the middle which meant I had to use other methods to prevent damage.
Also used it to lift the Jeep & it also bowed doing this but did work& didn't break even though it bowed allot.
I also used it to winch the Jeep over a little & it worked well in this configuration.
Im not sure how much more X-Treme it is than the standard but I expected a better made product considering it is their best supposedly. Over priced for quality IMO
I have a very old Handyman version which seems to be better quality IMO.
I was impressed with the hook on the top though & the actual Jack mechanism seems to be good quality so only big negative is the metal rail which is way to easily bowed
I know people are complaining about rust, but pick up some rust protectant spray and give it a coat. STAY AWAY from standard WD40. Go with Bo-coat or barricade but remember, it's not one coat and forget - you have to stay on top of keeping all your tools well-oiled and maintained.
