Japan's hottest young rock group Puffy AmiYumi presents twelve CGI animated adventures brimming with hot popular tunes, sticky predicaments, and a healthy sense of adventure. Whether it's obsession, money troubles, superstition or jealousy, Ami and Yumi can be depended on to see things from opposite perspectives and to challenge each other's instincts at every turn. Somehow, these two opposites remain the best of friends throughout their adventures and, with the help of their rather demented manager Kaz, always manage to reconcile their differences and collaborate on great onstage performances as the pop rock sensation Puffy AmiYumi. Each set of three episodes features a brief glimpse of the real Ami Onuki and Yumi Yoshimura interacting in their own distinctively disharmonious way and some brief footage of their live stage performances. Extras include a very brief backstage glimpse of Puffy AmiYumi and an aptly named "Totally Trivial Trivia Track" to the "Dance A Go-Go" episode. (Ages 7 and older) --Tami Horiuchi

Although the story lines can be kinda whacked they also can be very cute and whitty. It can go from a simple idea with the Cats and Kaz to an all out "full on riot Manga Robot explosion" This is a light hearted simple show that has a fun and enegenic appeal. The designs and backgrounds are great. Highly recommended for all ages.

This is not the greatest cartoon but it is what introduced me to Puffy AmiYumi. They are great band that formed in Japan. The genre is J-Pop with some songs that have a rock-ish feel to it. This is a cartoon I have to be in the mood for to watch it. It can be entertaining but also boring at times. Overall 3 out of 5 stars. Even if you don't like this show, you should still check out their music.

It's impressive for a show to maintain the same level of awesomeness over the years. Certain other shows I used to adore are much harder to watch nowadays, but not this one! Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi Show is just as great as it was when it first aired. I absolutely love it. I totally forgot that they had the live segments with Ami and Yumi, too! It's been great to rewatch this.

Never before in the history of filmmaking has such an amazing spectacle been produced for the sheer delight of adults and children alike. Bold in design and brilliant in execution, this animated extravaganza is guaranteed to send your senses reeling in delight through it's cornucopia of color, design, animation, and good old fashioned storytelling. It's the fish-out-of-water story of two Japanese women, Ami and Yumi, as they experience life as only two rock stars can: fast, furious, and fun! Most times thrilling, many times surprisingly poignant, this animated adventure is one trip that we all can afford to take time and time again.

I absolutely love this show. I'm 19 years old for crying out loud. Too bad they didn't have this cartoon when I was 8! hah, I also own the 'Rock Forever' dvd as well as alot of other HHPAY goodies.

The only problem I have with the dvds is there aren't much extras... =( but thats not that big of a deal because I can watch this dvd over and over again and never get tired of it. They just don't show much of this cartoon on tv much anymore as they used to. I'm not sure why. Maybe they are gearing up for something so awesome. Whatever the reason, I can't wait.

In the mean time pick up the dvds and watch your favorite re-runs whenever you like!

A Kid's Review on March 20, 2006
I have watched so many cartoons, but this cartoon is the best in the world. This 'Happy Go-Lucky' cartoon is the funnest cartoon for young children, especially the adventures that Ami and Yumi had from running away from their crazy number one fan, Harmony, to getting cursed with 100 years of bad luck. I thought this DVD was gonna have all the episodes of season 1, but it's just as well, I'm recording ALL the episodes from ALL the seasons. Overall, this cartoon is the 'beat of the bay.'

I use to watch this show on Cartoon Network when I was a kid, so when I saw it for this cheap I picked up a copy. It really doesn't stand the test of time. A little kid yould enjoy this series but that's about the extent of it. Doesn't stand the test of time.
