Hi-Tec has absolutely one of the best customer service departments I've ever dealt with. I was glad to be able to get these Hi-Tec boots from Amazon without a hitch, but I initially ordered these boots from a major online retailer of shoes other than Amazon, and that pair was lost by UPS after being drop shipped by Hi-Tec. After nearly 2 months and 8 phone calls to the retailer and UPS who both claimed they were waiting on paperwork to go through, I decided to try and contact Hi-Tec directly. A customer service rep found my order, did the legwork of contacting both the retailer and UPS, and called me back within an hour or two to assure me my refund would finally be happening within a few days. Wow! I am happy to be wearing a boot from a company who treats customers like that, even though they were not the ones at fault.
12/7/10 EDIT: We now have at least a foot and a half of snow on the ground and I still love these boots. They've kept me toasty through several hour-long shoveling sessions...my feet didn't even know they were outside. Highly recommended!
I got a ton of compliments on these shoes - even from the same people on different days (I guess each time they saw them it was like they were seeing them for the first time).
I DO have skinny chicken legs, and the laces don't go all the way to the top, so after I pull them tight there is some flare at the top, so if I stepped in snow deeper than my boot, it would act as a snow funnel to my ankles. If your legs aren't noodles you can probably avoid this issue. Or just don't step in large snow banks?
