  • Reduces charging time, but does not balance the cells, this mode only charges the battery to approximately 90% capacity
  • Monitors individual cell voltage, keeping the cells within an acceptable voltage range and charges the pack to peak capacity
  • Used for long-term battery storage Adjusts the voltage level so the battery will not be damaged during long term storage

This charger isn't the fastest for any one charging port, but with 320W total charging power and Hitec quality control, it's a reasonable deal for the money. The advantage of dividing it's 320W/4 is having flexibility to charge 4 different cell-counts at once.

Unlike cheaper digital chargers, it remembers the last setting per channel after the power has been shut off which usually saves a little time.

I read the critique above about the fan cycling, but until you get into really expensive ATX-style Power Supplie Units, the PSU fan is going to cycle too. My 1080W PSU cycles it's fan and is a lot louder than the Hitec unit attached to it (and another charger doing the same) so it's an unfortunate fact that reasonably powerful chargers will some noise while operating. The more important thing to me is that the X4-80 shuts down the fan when it is finished charging, cheaper chargers either keep the fan on or continue to cycle every once in a while it even when the charger is idling.

All things considered, a very nice unit that commands a little more money than other brands with similar specs. Nitroplanes dot com's Thunder T6 320W Quad Charger appears to be the same unit with a tacky color scheme for about $136 shipped UPS ground. The Hitec above adds no questions asked customer service and $4 Amazon Prime overnight shipping.

This is a great charger do not buy the one with the built-in power supply it takes a lot longer to charge each battery. I used a simple external power supply from LRP and if you notice the specs this charger can charge at a much higher rate per charging slot.

Obviously your objective of buying discharger is to save time so why not buy the one that lets you charge at a higher amperage. the other version is more expensive and charges slower by this one it's built very well.

using this charger to charge my 3DRoboitics 5100MA battery packs + FPV = a lot of batteries this charger rocks.

*** don't forget to buy extra balance charger leads the unit comes with two adaptors XH/EH you will want to buy a few extra XH adaptors!

I took my time and did a lot of research before buying this charger. With 80 watts per channel, built in balancers, pc link support, and the ability to charge/cycle/store any battery I've ever heard of, this charger exceeds what I wanted. And you can do all this with 4 batteries at once!

Ok, so the only downside to all of this is you will need a decent power supply to feed this, I ended up getting SUPERNIGHT(TM) DC 12V 30A 360W Switch Power Supply for LED Strip Light Switching AC 110V/220V for a really good price and its working just great!

Since I can do 4 at once, I don't need to be in a hurry to charge while in the field, I can charge at lower rates, being nicer to my batteries. Make sure you have plenty of batteries / balance adapters (if needed) because you will use them :)

This charger works great with every feature you would expect.

I'm docking a star because it only includes one useful balance board, and no banana or deans connectors, just two with nothing soldered (which would be fine as extras) and a freaking tamiya connector. Isnt this this meant for lipo? The cheap china charger I've used for years came with every kind of connector I could possibly need! This should have that but times four... I'm not thrilled about buying THREE balance boards and four of every kind of connector I need.

Now for the best part, the fans. There was zero effort in how these fans are controlled. They are either on or off based on a single temp threshold so they cycle on and off constantly. If they weren't super loud this might not be too bad, but it drives me batty to hear them just cycle on off on off on off...

I realize that none of this has no real bearing on the core function which is why I still give four stars, but overall I'm not real happy

I have been using this for about a month now and am very happy with it. Charging 4 batteries at once is awesome and the 6amp per channel limit has not been a big deal for me - takes a little longer to charge (minutes) but the ability to have 4 going at once far outweighs that limitation.

Quality is solid lots of programming options, unit is not silent when the fans crank up - duh!

The price is fantastic.

Works great for me after I made a voltage transformer to go with it. Love being able to charge up to 4 battery at one time and not have to have 4 different chargers. Wanted to go flying this morning and realized I had not charged my batteries so when got up hooked four up and was out of here in just over an hour.

I thought it was the AC/DC version and did not know it needed a PSU or 12v battery to run but, I am really happy with the quality and simple setup to safely charge my Lipo's. I converted a PC power supply to run it and it works perfect!

I love this charger. It's solid and I've had no errors so far. It comes with 3 different balance boards, which is a little annoying, but I bought three XH style boards to complete my set. Be wary of that hidden cost. It does come with extra banana plug cables which you can simply solder you own connector onto.
