Hemsworth is good in the title role. We get genre staples Kris Kristofferson, Bruce Dern, and Peter Sherayko, albeit in small roles. That is okay, because Hemsworth carries the film just fine. Trace Adkins, as the villain, has gotten better in his acting abilities and the western genre seems to suit him fine.
Overall, this is a solid effort. I would have liked a few more gunfights, but that's a small complaint.
Hickok doesn't do anything groundbreaking, and it isn't the best western to be released in recent years. However, it is good entertainment and as far as the direct-to-video market goes, this is one of the better ones. Recommended.
enevitable conclusion. Some flicks are worth watching again after a few months or years go by - this could have been one ot them if the language was cleaned up somewhat. If you factor in the dialog of first few minutes of the movie - you would easily see how much damage was inflicted against those in the audience who believe the Bible to have specific warnings regarding language usage. Enough said. Use the remote mute button to squelch out the aforementioned and you have a fairly decent movie.
