Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Eve Blackwell will do anything to get her son back from her corrupt and powerful ex-husband, even marry the enigmatic stranger Matthew Sterling (Mateo Sterling de Arroyo), a man who lives on danger and is now playing a deadly game of double deception. The attractive, well-matched protagonists; good sexual tension; sexy love scenes; and a rather exotic Mexican setting will maintain reader interest. Although some of the historical background could have been introduced more subtly, and obscure intrigue elements and too many characters confuse and slow the pace, this story is a nice blend of romance and intrigue. Enhanced by the dual cultural overtones, it should appeal to Alers's (Hideaway, Arabesque: Pinnacle, 1995) fans. Alers plans more romances using her Hideaway characters; she lives on Long Island.

Eve Blackwell desperately wants her son Christopher back. Christopher's father Alex kidnapped him. Eve seeks the aid of a man her uncle Harry knows named Matthew Sterling. What Eve doesn't know is that she will play a part in a plan so dangerous, it could take her life as well as the life of her young son.
Matthew Sterling is going to help Harry Blackwell's neice find her son, but this is the last time he will go undercover. He is going to sell his motel and spend the rest of his life as a farmer. He meets the lovely Eve and feelings begin to surface that he thought were gone.
Eve and Matt play the husband and wife charade. Well after a while it was no longer a charade. Now in order to find out what Alejandro Delgado did with Eve's son, they have to find him.
Hidden Agenda is book #2 of the Hideaway Series. This story features Matthew Sterling who appeared in the book Hideaway. I have read this book many times. It is one of my favorite's in this series. If you haven't met Matthew, please read Hideaway to get a good glimpse at him before reading this book.

A mother's devotion to her child leads her to accept a fate that would be filled with uncharted territory. The relationship of Matt and Eve is not conventional. It is filled with so much tosses and turns that you much continue to read to determine if and how they would make it. Fiercely independent loyal loner is how one would describe Matt. Yet barriers are broken when Eve penetrates his heart. Government officials having deep dark secrets. A child's life being a risk. Uncle being the head of the FBI, this story is definitely one that you get emotionally invested.

I definitely loved it. A wonderful, thrilling, action-packed adventure. Matt Sterling's and Eve Blackwell's story is filled with suspense and intrigue, as well as romance. Matt is not only handsome, but a strong and fierce man. Eve is a stubborn, but determined female, who will do whatever it takes to protect her own.
Their coming together may have supposed to been an act to fool others, but when they were together their feelings could not be tamed. The act soon became a reality. Matt was not only Eve's knight in shining armor and protector, but Matt was also Eve's warm-bloodied, able-bodied hero, soon to be discovered lover, and no longer pretend husband, but husband in every sense of the word.
The events in "Hidden Agenda" were well written and set the pace for a wonderful read. This book is certainly one that the readers would want to add to their list if they have not already read it. However, be sure to check out Ms. Alers' other books in the series, "Hideaway" then after "Hidden Agenda", read "Vows", Joshua Kirkland's and Vanessa Blanchard's story. These are all must reads.
Again, I loved "Hidden Agenda". It is a very good book!!

This is another book in the Hideaway Series that i enjoyed. This is the story of Eve, a mother who is on a journey to find her son in Mexico who was kidnapped by her ex-husband and Matt, a former undercover operative who just wants to live a quiet life on a ranch breeding horses. Harry Blackwell, Matt's former boss and Eve's uncle convinces him to help find Eve's son and to bring down a drug cartel.
The story is adventurous and thrilling. Matt is tough but develops a soft spot for Eve who does not want to get her heart broken. Their adventure takes them on journey of discovery which keeps you entertained.

This book was not good. It was well written as far as grammar and typos were concerned. However, the characters, especially the heroine, and the plot were just ridiculous. If you are a fan of the 70's type harlequin books, then you'll probably like this one. If you are looking for a book that engages your emotions I think you will be disappointed. The plot is so implausible, it's like viewing an episode of NCIS. The author tried to make it so intricate and action packed there isn't an opportunity to get to know the characters and their relationship didn't contain any sense of intimacy. They were too involved with being kidnapped and beaten to really get to know each other.

Eve Blackwell is a mother who is on mission to find her toddler son. Matt Sterling is a dangerous man, exemplary when he is on a government assignment. When Eve and Matt meet, the attraction is phenomenal and Matt mixes up both he and Eve's senses. This romance is the best, the reader even loses their equilibrium. Rochelle Alers' novels are impossible to put down and cause readers to really wonder where these characters exist. You are immediatley drawn into them; they are attractive, poised, cultured and most importantly, they love "hard". Rochelle is a forerunner in African American Romance.

Eve Blackwell is a woman on a mission. She is willing to do anything and everything it takes to get her missing son back. That includes marrying independent operative Matthew Sterling, a man she has just met. Matt worked for the U.S. government but had decided to call it quits. That is, until a long time friend calls in need of a favor. His niece's son has been kidnapped by his father, Eve's ex-husband, and taken to Mexico. Matt agrees to find Eve's son and to take down Alejandro Delgado, Eve's ex, and his South American connections. But, what Matt didn't count on was the intense pull that Eve would have on his heart, soul, and body. Eve was not looking for another husband or love. All she wanted was her son back. But you can't fight the tide. Amidst the perils that they face, Matt and Eve find a love that binds them together for life.

Hidden Agenda is an excellent read. It was full of romance, drama, and a sensual passion. Add in kidnapping, theft, and drug smuggling and it's a recipe for a great story. You might even call it a romantic adventure. Matt was sexy with his domineering and rough personality. Eve appeared fragile at times, but was a feisty match for Matt when called for. This was a great book.Only the second one in the series, but my favorite so far.
