Hidden Deception was another great moment in the Shelby Nichols series. I hope Colleen is already working on the next one, because I'm ready! ~ Berls @Fantasy is more fun

What I love about this series is that at the core, it's about family and close knit friends. The love is strong and the bonds of friendship are unbreakable. With each book I put my Kindle down with a feeling of having been part of a riveting adventure wrapped up in a love story. Not new, young frivolous love. Meaningful, withstanding the test of time and drama love (not sure if I'm talking about Chris or Ramos here lol). Colleen Helme knocked it out the park once again & manages to keep me guessing. I recommend this book to those that love action blended with sweet romance.
There was a lot going on in this book, not that it was difficult to follow, I really did read it in 2 sittings, so the quick, fast story is still there. What was different about this one was the potential, of where is it going, what trouble will Shelby get into that you grow to enjoy if you're reading this series.
As to 'a lot going on', I felt there were 6, maybe 7 potential story lines of the trouble Shelby could get into. 3 were resolved; and only 1 was 'semi' cliffhanger-y. There was also a "what happened to..." question - but as for my reading style, I don't have to have EVERY detail answered. So I believe future series will tell us more..
Chapter 2 introduced something that I thought would be the storyline, but I was totally wrong. I actually would love to read more about this, so this could be a refresher for future books (*hoping*).
POTENTIAL SPOILER POTENTIAL SPOILER
I could see this book being the new launching pad for additional adventures, she accepts that she hears dead people, she now partners with Dimples & is part of the family, so that new role of acceptance can lead to more..
I like strong relationships. Not just husband and wife, but friends, children and parents, and even co-workers. I love the whole community which is built around Shelby Nichols, and it grows in this book.
I am a person who can't handle suspense, and I HATE to watch (or read about) people making stupid decisions based upon false information, nor stupid reactions to obvious problems. Colleen Helme is great at keeping me involved while she builds suspense, and her characters are smart. I also like amusing tidbits. I am not a person who likes slapstick jokes. I like odd embarrasments, unexpected sexual tension, and clumsy surprises. This book is full of those.
I enjoyed this new adventure, all the while thinking I would flip if I had to juggle Shelby's crazy schedule. This book made me love Chris so much. But Ramos, Ramos, Ramos (sigh...). I actually hate triangles and every book I curse Colleen Helme for putting me in this triangle hell. I cannot choose between Chris or Ramos and if Shelby is so happily married, why the little teasers?
A very solid 9th book in this series anyway. Loved it.
